Hello everyone!

I'm a newbie when it comes to this forum.

I just wanted to make myself known.

A tad bit about me:
>I go to USC (perhaps what motivated me to finally join this forum is that topic on all those UCLA people that com here)
>I'm a mod at pcgameworld.com
>I hate EE and CS!!! (now i have no clue what to major in)

Well, hope all is well.

have a nice day :)

Welcome!

Hope you enjoy your first few days here... just don't turn into a helpless forum whore like myself.

What year are you at USC?

freshman by year, sophomore by units.

currently taking:
intro course to ee
intro course to cs
calc 2
physics (mechanics, thermodynamics)
a ge (literature on science and science fiction)

all of those classes (except for the GE) are boring. The only area of physics that really interests me is quantum mechanics and all the theoretical crazy stuff (astronomy :D) as well as solid-state physics.

calc is quite boring. and programming/drawing gates isn't my cup of tea.

i've only heard that cs and ee just get harder and harder, making you have even less time as the years go on. ugh.

I should've gone to ucsd and majored in bio-engineering...

lol UCSD is a beautiful school... kick-a@@ programs. Why'd you choose USC? (assuming you were instate)

I hear you on the theoretical physics. I read Hawkings for fun, in the middle of Newton's Principia right now... can't stand regular physics classes, though.

I chose usc because, surprisingly, it would have cost me more to go to UCSD.

weird huh?

also, when i applied, i chose business as my major, and got into USC's business scholars program. Business = quite boring. Econ was actually pretty interesting though.

So now I figured, i might as well do something that should be interesting...

Wow... you get an academic scholarship? They offered me about 4K a year (Trojan scholarship or something).... would've cost 31K a year, as opposed to about 14K max for UCSD (instate tuition, my dad lives in LA).

Have you considered taking some upper-level economics courses? I'm not majoring in econ (dual degree, Business - Info Systems, and Informatics), but I'm planning on taking like eight of the 400-level courses for fun...purely for my own edification.

I'm thinking about majoring in econ actually. I mean, lecture was boring because the prof simply spouted out what the book said, but the stuff is interesting.

Well...either econ/japanese or combined major in physics/cs. maybe i'll stick around for 5 years and major in japanese with that.

i'm not quite sure what to do. I'm a better writer than mathematician, but being around people who don't know jack squat about mathematics kinda sucks because you can't really discuss geek things like computers and physics with 'em.

blah, i just want to end up an animator (USC, MFA in animation would be nice), but that's a whiles to go.

btw, where do you go Zak?

Did you take a micro or macro economics class? The intro stuff for micro is REALLY dry, but macro is where it starts to get interesting... and when they start tying the two together... whoo, boy, I'm a goner!

It's tough, being a good writer and also wanting to do mathematics or science or computing (of some sort)... one of the reasons I'm checking out Informatics (both writing intensive and a technical degree).

An MFA from USC'd be nice! I'll settle for an MBA from some lowly West Coast public school, though... ;-)

I'm currently attending the University of Washington, up in Seattle... can't say much for the constant rain (even though I've lived here all my life), but I love the school, and my profs.

I was in love with USC for a long time, but the reality of the cost wore me down. I'm considering taking a summer or two and studying down there, though.

gotcha

[p]and to all usc people, someone's gotta mention this sometime...
GO UCLA!!!!!![/p]

So far i thin i'm the only usc person here...

i don't see a topic that says "who's a trojan around here?"

still...i got this sinking feeling that after my 3 hour nap (yes, i'll be back at 6 am or so...well...6:30 after shower), rather than finishing up some stuff, i'll be here posting like mad, so if you guys are up...

Funny because I think I'm a newbie too.
