Hi All!

I just joined this site and hope to be able to get help and provide help when I can, as well as learn a lot along the way!

I just build my tenth pc, and it has both Vista SP1 64 bit and Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit on it, and may soon have linux. It consists of:

Antec Nine Hundred mid tower case
Corsair 650W PSU
Asus P6T motherboard
Intel i7 920 Nehalem 2.66GHz LGA 1266 Quad Core CPU
Noctua NH-U12P SE1366 CPU cooler
OCZ Gold 3x2GB 1600 DDR3 memory
HIS HD4670 512MB video card with dual dvi outputs
Two Asus 23" 1080p HDMI lcd monitors
Two Samsung 1TB SATA 7200rpm 3gb/sec internal hard drives
Two LG 22x DVD+- internal DVD SATA DVD burners with LightScribe
LG 6X Blu-ray SATA internal Disc Burner
Microsoft Wireless Laser Desktop 4000 keyboard and mouse
Docked Blackberry Storm
Docked Apple video ipod
Belkin USB 2.0 hub
OCZ ATV 8GB USB thumb drive

I really like Windows 7 so far and think it's better than Vista after only a week!

I plan to add a Hauppauge WinTV dual tuner tv card to the system soon.

I would like to overclock eventually but for now am running stock.

Any questions, suggestions or comments would be most welcome!

Thanks!

well on the planet i'm sending this message from, most 20 year old sweet tarts give it up without hesitation in a house like that and would neither be averse to filming it, correct?

What does that have to do with the OP and the thread? I am still not making the connection.

Just thought I'd introduce myself, brag a little on my new system, and maybe get some slams on the video card or other choices, plus get some advice on where to go for overclocking starts. Thought the cpu and overclocking forum was the one to go with for that. Oh well.

You're not going to get any specific direct inputs unless you create a thread where you explicitly state what you want.

At this time your OP is basically a "hi I'm new, glad to meet you" thread which doesn't exactly open up the conversation any further than small talk in an elevator. Nothing wrong with that, but just explaining why the reception you are getting isn't meeting your expectations.

Look at the other threads in the forum, they (mostly) all have an explicit purpose. "My cpu is too hot", "here's my OC results", "what is i5?". Your thread is just an FYI - "Hi there, here's my computer stats, bye now".

What's to talk about? None of us know.

Again, I also don't get the connection. Seems like it would be funny, but i'm not following.

Seems like it could be rather hilarious..

Yeah I was hoping it was something juicy like the OP had put his physical address in his user shared profile and alyarb looked it up on zillow or something.

As it stands now, alyarb is just threadcrapping or trolling depending on how the OP wants to view it.

My purpose for my post was to introduce myself and my system that's all. I understand it was general and hesitated to post in a specific forum but just joined a list of recommended pc sites and most ask to introduce yourself as a first post and for this site I figured since I'm looking to overclock and don't know the first thing about it at this point I might get a reply here pointing me to a thread or link for overclocking beginners. Or just some general comments on my system.

I would like to add linux as a third boot option and will be posting a question about that.
Also, for recommendations on a low cost video editing program, one that uses CUDA by chance. I've downloaded trial copies of Premier Elements, VideoExpression x2 Pro and Vegas Platinum Pro. I'll search for a forum for that and post a question on that as well.

Yep, its a welcomed thing to do, don't be deterred or discouraged by the response you got from some posters here.

For general comments on your rig, you'd be better served posting about it in the General Hardware sub-forum.

Unfortunately we don't have any "how to" guides for the i7 at this time. No one has stepped up to the plate yet to create one. The position is available if you want it.

Here's an existing how-to on OC'ing LGA775 quads and dualcores that you could use as a template/example.

When the time comes where you want answers on this you will be best served posting a specific question on this topic in the Operating Systems sub-forum.

Good luck

I think he decided it would be fun to take this quote too literally.

This thread has several usefuly links to I7 overclocking guides.

As IDC mentioned, no one has consolidated all the data into a single I7 overclocking guide, like they have with the Core 2 and Athlon 64 stickies.

Thanks for the tips and links. Much appreciated.

I realize there are different forums and I plan on posting in the appropriate one.

This post was obviously in the wrong forum. Just had to pick one and couldn't find a 'introduce yourself' forum as some of the other sites had.

I actually started this post in the General Hardware forum but got an error and tried this one next as I wanted to try something else and I do want to overclock.

Thanks but the link you sent me isn't working.
