There is a catch however, every year you have to face a 1/1000 chance of having your life end violently For example : Being caught in gang warfare, crime, war etc. even if you are not involved in it at all.

Where do I sign my soul away?
 
is it 1/1000th of a chance one day out of a year?

how exactly is that chance applied? I suppose it's random, yes, and I'd never know if the potential day is coming?

what if I just spend that time building an underground bunker and living my life down there, such that no accidental harm may come to me?

So, the odds are each year there will be a 1:1000 chance I die a violent death? OK......I'll take the deal, esp. since there is no mention of soul being taken anywhere in that deal.

Yep, if the devil really shows up, I'd think that would imply there is a God, and then would imply something happens to your soul after death.

But this deal mentions nothing about "soul to hell" or anything like that, just how you'll die. And I'd take that deal......gonna die anyway. A bullet to the head is much easier and faster than turning 90, wearing diapers, drooling uncontrollably on yourself, etc.
 
my probability skill could be a bit rusty but wouldn't the chance of you getting killed this way x years after the deal is:

1 - (999/1000)^x ?

at 10 years it's about 1% chance that you would have died
at 25 years it's about 2.5% chance that you would have died
at 50 years it's about 5% chance that you would have died

hell where do I sign up for it?

i was gonna post the same thing. i was gonna basically say that i wouldn't do it based on the fact that if the devil proposed this deal to me, he'd exist, which would mean that there's a heaven and hell, and i'd much rather go to heaven.

you don't make it into heaven if you make a deal with the devil. it's in the fine print on the heaven acceptance form.

if the kind of people who claim to follow them is the only way to get to heaven are the ones actually end up in heaven then I would gladly choose the other option.

not sure how you deduced that from my post. just because you don't make a deal with the devil doesn't mean you've got to be christian. it just means you can't make a deal with the devil.

typically, the devil is a trickster and will do what he can to win. anytime he makes a deal, he will win and if he wins, he gets your soul when you die. the only person i know to have ever beaten the devil in his deal is johnny the fiddle player.

Yeah, it sounds better than normal life.
 
DONE! Except I don't one million, I want one BILLION every year. If I'm in with the devil, might as well live as lavishly as possible. A mil a year just isn't going to cut it.

How do we know religion isn't a trick being played on us by the devil whereby the devil purports to be God and tricking people into following his way? Hmmmm................
