<< Where in the hell is that? I thought they were photoshopped until I saw those last 4. Must be one small runway to force those 747s to come in so short with full-flap extension. >>

Sure looks like it, landing gear isnt even down yet. I believe they have to drop the landing gear by like 1500 feet or sumthin...

When I was near O'Hare Airport a plane flew about 10 feet from my head. Its not rare that it happens. You dont get sucked in!

I thought they were chopped - the sand wasn't swirling and the water doesn't look disturbed, until I saw this -6[/i] >>

. It's just about landed and it's not kicking up much dust. And the inside the cockpit shots and stuff are convincing too.

very possible there is turbulence or something we aren't seeing, those wing surfaces are literally sails

read the stories on the site. evidently in that first pic, the pilot actually took out a chain-link fence, and he was fired after the second time he did it. I think these are real pics.

<< I have the videos on my hard drive if someone wants to host them. Check airliners.net, they aren't photoshoppped. >>

The first three pics are real...... from the site itself:

"The picture on the left was taken by Ludovic Aubert, Imapress/Globe Photo.
It was published in Life magazine. The location where the picture was taken is Simpson Bay, St. Martin a Dutch and French island. The island is so tiny that its Juliana International Airport abuts one of the famed Caribbean beaches."

It was also on Ripley's Believe It Or Not. The runway is literally adjacent to the beach. It's also worth noting that they only land there something like once a week or so from what I remember from the show. They don't do it everyday....

<< They look real to me. I haven't landed a jumbo, but from the view of the cockpit the glideslope is right.

For an example of jetwash, check this from whocutthecheeze.com.
>>

Just totally winging it here...but on landing, the engines aren't cranking that much and maybe jetwash is not a factor?

Dunno...no clue.

Hey, to everyone who's making fun of these pilots: you ever stop to think that maybe there was a mechanical problem of some sort, and the pilots were in fact, doing an incredible job and saving everyone on board? :| Would you rather land crooked and rough or plummet into the ocean?

I'm sure it didn't.

<< first of all.. if that plane was that low... those ppl would be sucked up.... its called lift... >>

You moron, lift does not suck people off the ground.

Wow, I must be an insulting mood this evening. People are saying the most outrageous things in this thread, though!

"is this one photochopped?"

Don't know if it is photochop or not, but there is a mention the same pilot of those 2 AirFrance 747 landing did rip down the 4 foot fence with the landing gear at that air port. The pilot were fired after the second incident.

They were published in Life magazine...Why not look at the 302 other photos at airliners? You think it's some huge conspiracy?

If someone has some space the landing vid is just over 5 megs. I'd host it but I don't think my ISP would be too happy. Plus I think I'm maxed on my room.
