Would having dual cpus be faster ten having only one cpu?
for example, my friend has a dual cpu comp ,(2 400mhz)
i have a 800mhz, he clains his is faster.
I want to know what is really the big differnce?

For multi-tasking and server type operatings, his probably is a bit faster. For simple operations, games etc, I would say that yours would be faster.

Yes and no.

Multiple processors DO make things (SOME things) faster. It's not as easy as "400 + 400 == 800".
A rough estimate of 50% is on average more like it.

Also, it is important that the OS and application can actually make USE of the additional processor(s).

Win 9x/ME do *NOT* support SMP.

Most games don't support SMP (Quake III I think is one of the rare exceptions).

For personal use ie. gaming, surfing, MS-office etc. Single 800 Mhz is faster.

Unless of u r running Window NT, Unix and other server base application.:)
