Ouchie...

Methinks that the valves will be the first thing I do in the Spring. My luck one of the POs switched over to hydraulic at some point and I'll ruin the lifters by adjusting them. :p

Ouch...looks like the 3hp briggs I drained the oil from and ran wide open.

Does not look good!

In the 70's, doing a weekend's worth of desert bike riding, it was always a treat,
when someone had a magnesium case in that condition to throw on the bon-fire.
It would cast shadows on the hills miles away...:)

I think you should donate your 914 to the "Monster Garage" project @ Discovery. Maybe, they could modify it by putting a big block Chevy V-8 in it. :D :D

Yeah, but that link has a vehicle with a small block 350 in it. I think the 914 with the 454 c.i. would be sweet. :)

And the Euro-Spec pistons are good for 5-10 hp without adversely affecting reliability or driveability.
