Arrived safely in South Carolina. Mileage from San Rafael , Ca.... 2,701 miles.
Estimated fuel cost aprox $550.00 actual.. $638.25.... Maybe that side trip to Las Vegas ate that, ya think??
When renting a truck now, they make a point of adviseing you that "you MUST stop at weigh stations and inspection stations..." yeah, yeah,I've been driving various rental trucks across the US for years pal, I know the drill, and one would think that since Sept. 11, we would be on guard....nope.... there were only three stops at weight / truck stops on the entire route, twice in CA and once in New Mexico, and the guy was sitting there , eating sunflower seeds, and just asked what I was carrying and waved me through.....:Q
During the "Cocaine Fueled 80's" , I had cops and agriculture agents in my trucks and all manner of inspections, yet, here we are "at war" and we are letting anything ride on down the road, sheeesh, it never ceases to amaze me.... I digress.....
So far so good for me......
