Hey Russ

Hey that's cool Russ. That webpage of your's is real class.

Congrats on LANMAN, who are the others?

I am confused (and possibly a bit disappointed) as to why loner and Lanman would join the TA BORG mini-team. These guys have fairly big herds and good key-rates so I am surprised they didn't continue to go it alone.

Edit: I am waiting for the inevitable flame.....

vss1980--the following is a reply of mine that I stripped from another post. It gives several reasons why I have joined a mini-team. There are others of course.

[/i]Let me try to explain a little of my reasoning[...]I've been doing RC5/OGR for a long time, and frankly, had lost most of my interest. My herd was simply working on whatever it got, be it OGR or RC5. I'm not obsessed with personal stats (although I will admit to a minor addiction 🙂, but am definitely interested in team enhancing stats. I see mini-teams as a method of moving TA members to the top of the dailies/overalls, where non-TA members will see them.

Just imagine selecting the "top 100 individuals for the day" on d.net and finding several members of Team AnandTech near the top. New d.net crackers who haven't chosen a team yet will have a much better chance of joining TA if they see our members stats high on the list and follow links on those stats pages. edit: This is much like the DPC concept of "recruitment through MF", where they find that recruits jump onboard by seeing DPC members high in the stats race.

There are other reasons of course. While TA is a family, it is an extended family. Minis are more like a "nuclear" family. Being on a mini-team provides even more motivation to assimilate machines--almost like having a "mentor" to push you, and I feel, will help me to bring more to the mini, and in turn to TA.

I hope this helps explain at least part of my reasoning for joining a mini-team[/i]

sukhoi--Welcome eight!

edit: Are italics not working???

Russ--You don't have links for the pages for seven and eight on the index page. I can get to their pages only if I know that they exist!

VSS 1980

The simple answer is because it is such tremendous fun!😀

All the mini-teams really enjoy themselves. Surely cracking RC5 cannot be considered a "serious" business, something to be done alone and never to be talked about.

Being part of a mini-team brings extra enjoyment. There is more interaction and the focus of that interaction is the enjoyment.

There are some here that enjoy themselves by setting themselves a goal of self achievement and they quite rightly and proudly post their efforts toward that goal - a golfer analogy is useful.

There are some who sit back and merge their effort into the team by cracking for other TA members. This makes them feel good. They aren't concerned with their individual stats - just helping others and boosting team TA. - a good Samaritan analogy.

There are others who also don't care much about recognition of their individual efforts but they enjoy being in good company and working as hard as they can as part of small but integral unit. They encourage each other to greater effort. They stand united, play hard and each play their part, big or small, and at the end of that days game they stand around arm-in-arm, still united, win lose or draw.
A football or hockey team analogy is useful.

Me personally, I'm a team sports fan. I'll spend an afternoon in front of the TV watching a football final, but when Wimbledon or the US Masters is on, you'll find me out in the boat chasing a fish and trying to figure out where my next assimilation is coming from.

😀😀😀😀😀😀

81,778 Blocks yesterday Cube!!! Good Job!

It wont be long before you guys are pushing 100K +

Little fact here, the DPC currently have 1329 active members, more then twice AT/TA's 625 members. 🙂

And too add to my last post, their top ten members did almost 40% of their blocks! Thats some nice flushing!

loner,

I don't have links for any of the Integrals on the index page. I do have a link to the Integrals page. From there, you can go to each individual page.

BTW, technically, we have nine now. I added Mrs. Two.😀

Hmmmm. No go even with a cache clean-up. I wonder if the campus proxy server is screwed up again. That happens sometimes. I'll try it again later.

Gosh, I finally get to see this new stuff.

I am getting the new pages loner, must be your proxy or browser. Did you do a <shift> refresh like the old Netscape needed?

Maybe Mrs. Two can get me a job if I can't get an IT one. No wait, your in Washington, too long a commute from Iowa. 😀

I still liked the old smilies better.
