But Rumsfeld doesn't grant "the authority that gives you the right to voice your opinion". That comes from a mandate from the people.
I wasn't referring to Rumsfeld, I was referrring to the Government in general.
Criticizing the idiots down the street from me is my patriotic duty. Get over it.
Does that make it appropriate (especially in this incident, the reporters were telling the dumb bitch to go home)? Do something constructive with your distaste, not make an ass of yourself.
The first amendment gives us the right to make asses of ourselves. You might think the venue and the message were inappropriate, but that person didn't think so. Respect her rights.

Respect my right to say that it was inappropriate and we've got a deal

Where do you work, and for whom?

DC.

Where in DC? I worked down at CGHQ at Buzzard's Point over the summer. Not a very pleasant place, but parking is free, it is right on the water, and Fort McNair is right next to it, too.

Although I agree that what she did was legal, where she did it could be illegal. News networks wasted 45 seconds of airtime to broadcast that. Technically, they could sue the girls for their outbursts.

Doubtful.

L'Enfant Plaza. I see the Washington Monument out of my office window, and I can see the Capitol building if I walk down the street.

Doubtful that they'll do anything about it because it was funny.

Right. My mom works in the FAA building catacorner to there. I caught the DOT shuttle down to CGHQ on the east side of the building every morning.

Her rights stopped when she entered private property. This was a private function thrown by the press corp. I can guarantee you they did not want anyone doing that, and had every right to toss her out.

If this was a press only function, how did she get in?

Yeah right, you wouldn't be a Republican then would u.

It's sad that that's the only way a person can question their officials. It's even more sad that so many people are saying "damn hippy" and not saying "it's their right to protest, good for them".
