Hey, remember that hill signal sequence in ROTK??

I saw something similar in India...except they used drums! Check out this pic of the city of Amber near Jaipur. All those little watchtowers along the fortress wall used to house huge steel drums. When invading armies could be seen approaching, watchmen would start beating the drums and the sound would echo all through the valley. Pretty cool eh?

I have a picture I'm trying to upload...we'll see how that goes.

Any other info about this or similar practices in medieval times? What was the most effective way to rally up the peasants and knights to fight for their king?

i wondered how the hell they got the sticks up there so high, and what the men up there who were manning the structures did for food and shelter

My question is: who the hell wants to spend days/weeks/months on top of those friggen mountains?

Yeah, some of the places they had signal fires sprout were a little far-fetched. 🙂

Yeah, and some of the elevations were drastically different, so if it was cloudy/stormy, how would they see it????
