Are you still doing benchmarks on Low angle w/u?

If so I have 1 that is .007. Its sitting in my setidriver so I think I can send it to ya.

I had one that was .001 but it got sent back.

Ha!! I've got you beat. I had one this morning with an angle range of 0.000 (I didn't know they came that low:Q) it took 8.058 hrs on a P3-500e @ 620mhz.😛 Which really blows considering the second one after that only took 4.428 hrs (angle 4.757).:|

Ooo ooo... and I had someone send me a 0.001!!!! The lowest I had before that was a 0.003. Send it to me anyway Danzigrules, if you still have it.

And blade_47, did you have a copy of that 0.000? (probably not but just asking) 😉

Well I need an email or a time that you'll be on icq tonite

<edit> what can I use to open the work unit.sah file to tell which one it is?

thx

Hey Danz,

You can use a text editor such as MS Wordpad. It is too large to be opened by Notepad.

I have also had a .000 Angle-Range WU. I do not save them as I would never want to WASTE the time to recheck one of them!!

I am concerned that I am seeing more Low Angle-Range WU's lately. I sure hope it is not because they are getting recycled because others are deleting them rather processing them. :|

danzigrules - Forgot to turn on my PM in the profile. It's on now. You can actually attach a copy of the WU to email (the ICQ on my win2K got b0rked somehow - need to reinstall... 🙁).

When I run benches, I don't submit them for credit mainly because they're being run multiple times on different platforms so it would show up as a dupe for my account...

I know that there's different types of text editors and they do/interpret carriage returns differently, eg., Wordpad seems to work better with WUs than Notepad... And if you actually cut and paste it in an email, my Netscape mail might screw it up because of that...

If you don't get chance to send it tonight, you can actually copy it somewhere else and hold it till you're ready! 🙂

Are you just collecting extremely low angle ranges, or do you want very high ones as well? I have one 'in my hands' right now with an Angle Range of 11.804 if you're interested... 🙂

Sorry Poof it had already been sent back.:frown: I'll keep an eye out for another one though. My luck I'll get another one of them.🙂

Wow!!! Those are high! Yeah... if you guys have real high ones like that send them to me! There was a suggestion to run the extremes to get the full range of WU times for a particular platform. I think our data has pretty much confirmed that the angle range is THE predictor of WU times for 3.0 (and would vary accordingly based on the CPU, OS, amt/type of cache, FSB, etc.). Having submitted just over 100 results running 3.0 on Linux to Roelof Engelbrecht (Seti Spy author), and having seen some others who have given Roelof their results, if you have a dedicated cruncher, the times for every WU with a particular angle range will not vary more than maybe 1% if that. With the 2.4, the number and degree of gaussians (plus number of spikes sometimes) seemed to determine the length of the WU.

Thanks guys!

😀
