Hey, PC gaming isn't so complicated or expensive

I just wanna be able to play most games at 720p @ 60fps on high settings; why do I have to be a rocket scientist and spend 2000$ just to get this done?

You don't. Under $700 I'd bet I could put together a parts list for a decent gamer. It costs a little money but I'm past the point of caring. It's something I enjoy and I spend money on it.

$2000? All you need to play PC games is a decent quad core and a good video card. AMD would give you that package for less than $400 if you already have the rest of the components.

lol you don't have to spend anywhere near $2k for that

All you really need is a modern CPU, Video Card, and some ram. The other expensive parts (Operating system software and monitor/keyboard/peripherals) you should already have since nearly everyone has some type of PC now.

Thats easy,

Quad core cpu at about 3.0 ghz about 125$
Motherboard for quad core ~ 85$
memory ~ 75$
video card ~160$
500gb drive ~50$
dvd burner ~ 30$
good case and power supply 125$

Mike,I'll help you, what do you need to know.

must all of your threads be so ridiculous? 1280x720 is a joke of a res and any decent quad and an overclocked 460/6850 would net you 60fps on high settings.

Really not sure if that's a pretty good try at trolling or not..

First you don't need to spend 2k$ to play current games at high settings at 1280x720.

And you really don't need to be a scientist to read the dozens over dozens of "Build budget/mainstream/highend PC" articles on reputable sites out there and decide what you want

Still more complicated than consoles? Sure. More expensive? Yep, although if I count what I've saved in steam sales over the last few years.. at best arguably. Better graphics? Definitely.

Thanks man, you seem to be trying to help; I think I'm gonna order from a PC vendor web site cause I really think building a PC would be hard, I'd have no idea where the wires would go.

yeah metro is brutal, so is crysis, and BFBC2 can be pretty brutal on a system but 720P is a low res.
Bad Company 2 is not really brutal unless running tons of AA. I can get about 40-50fps average running it at the highest settings with 2x AA and HBAO off at 1920x1080 with my gtx260.

waste of money, get a job, do some research, ask your school's tech supervisor if he can help or offer advice if you need to. Just don't waste your money on a prebuilt.

OP is over exaggerating everything, just ignore him.

Mike, come back when you got $700. We'll gladly help you put a brand new system together that will fill your needs for years. All this useless posting isn't going to make your current PC perform any better and is taking up space.

Sorry, but i'm just being honest. My 40 year old mother can put a PC together, it's nothing beyond matching colors and shapes.

That's what people pay an extra $200 for, for others to do it for them. That's whats called a pre-built machine.

honestly based on his posts on the forums here, I dont think building a pc is wise for him. maybe later when he starts grasping some basics but not now for sure.

I'm talking about cyberpowerpc, there you can customize your components; I'd probably get an AMD quad with a GTX 460 EVGA superclocked..

There are many hardware sites, utube video's, and instruction manuals that can help.
Hey you might even find some polite guys (for a change) on a forum that are more then willing to help.

I wouldn't sweat it, its really not that hard, and even harder to really screw something up.

Pc vender computers are hard to upgrade and dont overclock, in short they suck. 🙂

I encourage you to go to the general harware section ,give a spending limit and what you want to do with your computer and give it a go.
I'll be the first one over there to help.

That's why i told him to get a job first, (i am assuming that will take some time, a lot of time) then do some research. If he had the money right now and he wanted to build a computer now I would say get a prebuilt. But from his posts i just dont think he has the money or the knowledge anyway. Might as well get the money and find out what you are doing.

The cost to get a gaming PC is about the cost to get a regular PC + the cost to get a PS3 or possibly Xbox 360.
You probably need to invest another $300 every couple of years to keep it going, but that's about it, and you save that much (assuming you game a lot and buy your games) by being able to buy cheaper games, since most PC games are cheaper than console games.
