Hey, my RA is a big a-hole...how do i get him removed?

Should i call the complex director when he comes back drunk, or call the cops when he "play fights" with one of us?

Brief history: The entire floor hates this guy, complete a$$hole he is. The other RAs on campus call him farva. Complete tool, and dumb beyond belief. He wrote up the entire floor because someone drew a penis on a poster. That was against the floor charter we voted on, as he was supposed to come to us first. He also yells at us if we come off the elevator talking after 9 pm. Threatens us with write ups if we dont do whatever he says, ect. Basically, he is on a power trip. We wrote to the complex director and the entire floor signed the letter, but no action has come of it. So now as a floor we decided that either he goes or we go, and 1 person is easier than 27. Maybe you all know a better way?

I am just so frustrated right now because he has ruined any and all fun on the floor. I no longer feel relaxed on this floor. All the other RAs hate him, and they are so much cooler because they talk to us as eqauls, not as if they do hold power over us.

Confront him as a group.

He might be able to power trip one person, but 27 pissed off people demanding his resignation & physically carrying him to whoever he would field his resignation to is hard to argue with.

Are you close to any other RA's in the building?

I would coordinate between the floor members and the RA's - if issues with this particular person are being brought up by both staff members and residents, the complex director should take notice. If the complex director ignores it, write a business letter to his/her higher up, stating the situation, the specific instances, how the complex director has acted, etc.

Documentation is key. Record when, where and what happens, and who's involved. If possible, spend time with other RA's and allow him to see them around - that should temper him at least a little. If not, you have their eyewitness experience.

Doesn't matter. It's not his job to psychoanalyze the guy, it's his responsibility to record and report his actions to the complex director, who should take care of it according to their procedure.

Im close with 1 RA, but she is also partial to him because she is the sister floor RA. Perhaps we will write a letter asking what has been done, and if no action has been taken go to the next one up with RA support this time. Any more suggestions?

That's about all I can think of. Whenever he actually writes anyone up, that person'll have a disciplinary conference with the RD (complex director) and that should be brought up there, as well.

If it's mentioned often enough and held steady on as an issue, it will eventually get resolved.
 
You know, for someone who lived on a floor that managed to get two RA's fired in two years, you'd think I'd have some suggestions. Actually, only the first RA was our fault directly, he let us get away with way too much stuff and I think the floor trip to the strip club was the last straw. The second one got caught letting his girlfriend sleep over in his room.

Check and see if RAs are allowed to drink. Some places they aren't. When he comes back drunk, call your hall director and complain that you don't think he's setting a very good example for the floor.

Or better yet, tell your parents or a professor about it. The hall director is more likly to admit there's a problem if someone who's not living on the floor calls in a complaint on behalf of a student.
 
I think I missed a good point in the original post..

If the RA comes back and is visibly intoxicated, he is in violation of his job duties - when the RA is in the building, he or she is on the job. Intoxication is not something many complex directors take lightly.
 
Everybody pitch in to buy him all he can possibly drink of his favorite hooch. While he's getting blasted go out and hire a syphilitic crack whore. When he's sufficiently drunk send the crack whore in to do the deed with him. Your problem will be over just as soon as he starts showing they symptoms of syphilis.

Go complain to everyone and anyone. If more drastic measures are required, keep putting rotten meat under his door, hehehe.
 
Only one solution left. Do it the Army way, throw him a blanket party. He won't see you guys beat him, so he can't point fingers!! He WILL get the point😎
