Hey! I just got some pop-ups! And I'm a Subscriber!

What's the deal?! I could see this happening to a non-subscriber, but not on the subscriber server.

This was the third time today, dad. Next time I'll be sure to record all the info. Like a dummy, I clicked them closed out of habit.

No, nothing. This has happened on my PC at work and home (at home now). I know I don't have a pile of cookies because I just formatted and reinstalled W2K on here just 4 days ago.

In fact, I did catch part of the title on one pop up and it referenced "subscriber.anand..." at the end and I couldn't read anymore because it ran out of room. So don't tell me it's impossible, because it happened.

Calm down, they were just trying to rule out other possibilities. Hopefully, it was just a fluke, and it won't happen again.

No popup when I click on that link. You really should check what else is running next time you get it (in taskman, or whatever). AFAIK, there is no way (since they do not connect to ad servers at all for popups to happen on the Subscriber servers).

All right, I'm going insane. I screwed up the link and for some reason couldn't edit it. Here's the correct link.

I went there again and got it, again.

Here's what's in the window title "http://servedby.advertising.com/9014299/site=subscriber.anan..." and then it runs out of room. I couldn't resize the window to get it all.

Any ideas?

Adaware found one module called "Savenow". If this is the problem, I'm sorry for blowing up. :eek: I've been a subscriber since it has been offered and never had this problem. Thanks for the advice.

see, tould you it was impossible. its a common tactic for those type of programs to try and mimic that it came for the current site you were browsing even if it did not. or to track where your visiting by putting the URL in the URL of the ad. there is NO AD CODE on the subscriber server PERIOD.

If I am not mistaken, Savenow is an advertisement affilate. Any chance you have recently installed BearShare?

BearShare? Never heard of it. The only thing I did that I usually don't do is sign up on one of the fileplanet.com servers to download the patch for Rune. I did this on my work laptop as well. That might explain why I was seeing this at work as well. Damn, I guess I'll have to run AdAware on that sucker too.

AdAware = Great little program.
