My ignore list serves it's purpose, as I have a poor memory it essentially is just a flag to me saying "Behind this 'Show Post' button is a troll or a moron approach with caution" it's surprisingly effective. I don't necessarily use it to ignore people. I do however use it to ignore people when I'm not in the mood to deal with trolls or morons.
