DELL
P4 2.4
256MB RAM (YUCK!)
Integrated Sound, Video, LAN
60GB IDE
19" Dell LCD
CDRW

A little more RAM would help, but the thing runs OK for me. (I'm a research analyst). My main beef however is our file server. It takes forever for me to pull any files from it (like 2 minutes for a 5MB file).

Good when they are new. Now it's jsut an old dell. I get "refreshed" in about 76 months. Rumor has it that we are upgrading from Windows 200 to XP!

I work at the local comptuer shop fixing computers, so I get everything from the original Pentiums and K6-2s to brand new comptuers to brand new computers with 128mb of ram and the entire McAfee suite (which is by far the worst). The actual shop is run on older Pentium 2 to Pentium 3 machines.

We are running HP rigs with a Athlon 64 3200+ and 512MB of ram 40GB hard dive and a standard CD rom.

On yea we have 15" LCD monitors too.

better then the older P3s at 0.750GHZ and 256MB of ram on crappy 17" CRTs we had before

21 inch CRT Dell
Dell GX280 Pentium 4 with 2.8 Ghz , 80gb HD and 2GB Memory
IMO it's overkill for an inten who is just learning database programming. But I can't complaint, my rig is awesome.

I started with a dual G5 rig with dual 17" Trinitrons but then they gave me a P4 2.0 and gave the G5s to one of the graphics designers.

One of the main servers @ my work that also handles voice calls (t1) is:
Old gateway machine...
450mhz P3
512mb ram
80gb hdd
windows 2k

DELL Dimension
P4 3E GHz
1 GB RAM

Up until a year ago or so I still had a P2-350 at work. Once they gave me the new one, it was faster than my machine at home, so I found a HOT DEAL at DELL on a similar P4 3E GHz machine and bought it for myself. Now there is equilibrium.

When I was at Russell:

2.8 GHz P IV, 2048 MB RAM, 60GB HDD, integrated sound, ATI X300 dual-display video card with 2 19-inch Dell flat panels.

Now that I've switched to a job that allows sanity:

2.6GHz P IV, 256 MB RAM (blech), 40GB HDD, integrated sound, integrated video, single 17-inch NEC flat panel.
