Hey everyone on here who calls Obama a socialist

Even Fox News thinks you're crazy.

Seriously. Fox News. These lines of argument are considered so insipid, so stupid, and so creepy, that even Fox is calling people out on them. The least professional, most ultra right wing, most hackish news network in America has had enough. I hope that puts things in perspective.

Criticize Obama all you want, in many ways he deserves it and open criticism is something our country needs. If you're going to do it though, please criticize him in a sane way.

Are you saying Obama hasnt been the most socialist president we have seen in our lifetime? 😕

I thought the left liked socialism, so why are you acting as if it is a dirty word?

Brilliant! That segment describes half the whack jobs in P&N.

Socialist, Marxist, Fascist, take your pick.

Well, no, It's Shep Smith who's had enough, he's the only voice of reason at Fox news. O'Reilly/Hannity/Beck encourage the crazies.

So you dont answer the question, you instead hold up what a talking head at what you would normally call "Faux News" says? 😕

Again, why is socialism bad? We have at least a thread a week here on why socialism is good. What is wrong with Obama's socialistic policies?

I believe the correct term for the economic policy Obama is imposing is fascism.

Yes...look it up...

I'm not playing your game, buddy.... Just keep chirping your little buzz word - and I'll do what I usually do.....

I'll laugh. and I'll keep laughing too... I'm laughing now....

Youll keep doing what you are doing in this thread: Adding nothing.

Obama has enacted some very socialistic policies. You can laugh all you want, but that isnt opinion, that is fact.

Are you denying that taking over GM is socialistic? 😕

I saw what you tried to do there, you tried to qualify your statement by saying 'most socialist'. Being more socialist than GWB or Ronald Reagan doesn't make you a socialist, it just makes you anywhere from the center-right onward.

I'm not acting like socialism is a dirty word at all, in fact I made no quality judgment on the merits of socialism in any way. I was merely calling out the morons who are so blinded by partisanship and so ignorant of the basic definitions of words that they are running around furiously hurling loaded terms at people that are simply factually incorrect.

When Obama privatizes GM again, will Obama be a free marketer? 😕

Obama did what pretty much every president (democrat or republican) would have done. Don't forget the GM bailouts started with Bush.

Although I will cede the point that many of the Fox News crowd only parrot the word without really knowing what it is, they are still correct.

Taking over GM was socialist.

His health-care plan will most likely be socialist.

These are not right-wing bombs, these are facts.

So what? A person is the sum of their actions, and the actions Obama has taken during his time in public life are overwhelmingly capitalistic. I do find it interesting that doing one socialistic thing makes you a socialist, but a hundred capitalistic things apparently don't make you a capitalist. Anyone who thinks he is a socialist has never seen or read about what real socialism is.

Again, jesus christ people... Fox News is even calling you out for being crazies. You KNOW it's bad then.

These are not right-wing bombs, these are facts.

I think the real problem is that the use of the word has become corrupted.
The US has many socialist programs, Medicare, Social Security, heck even education is socialist.
But many of the posters here use the word in its corrupted form to mean a Marxist/Soviet or Maoist/Chinese style government where the state controls everything.
I highly doubt that President Obama wants to take over everything and have it all run by the government as some (very few now that I think about it) posters here believe.

I had a feeling it was Shepard Smith in the video even before clicking the link. He is the only sane person on the network. If it wasn't for his high ratings, I'm sure Fox would of gave him the boot a long time ago. Major props to Shepard for calling out these whack job righties.

The poor sad folk on the right were trained from children to fear the communists under their bed. The word socialism evokes those fears. If Obama is not a socialist they would have to face the fact they are mentally ill. So you can be sure Obama's a socialist.

No, that is how you frame the debate with your all or nothing mentality.

Actually Shep is a bit of a nutter. He got arrested once for aggravated assault with a motor vehicle. During the 2000 Florida presidential election Smith drove his car into another reporter who was standing in a parking space trying to save for a friend.

Shep isn't a bad guy for being a head case and a Dem. The fact he works for the right wing Fox shows its not that right wing. Fox is tame.

As for Obama his history and actions make it easy to see he is a Marxist. He attacks bankers and business people. Seeks wealth re-distrribution and control of production - while complaining how the Constitution does not allow for same ( a reason he goes around the Constitution regularly). There are so many things its amazing even the average American dummy hasn't caught on yet.

Oba even belonged outright to a Marxist political party once and medai barely ever mentioned it. Obama would NOT have passed an FBI background check

The New Party

"Co-founded in 1992 by Daniel Cantor (a former staffer for Jesse Jackson's 1988 presidential campaign) and Joel Rogers (a sociology and law professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison), the New Party was a Marxist political coalition whose objective was to endorse and elect leftist public officials -- most often Democrats. The New Party's short-term objective was to move the Democratic Party leftward, thereby setting the stage for the eventual rise of new Marxist third party.

Most New Party members hailed from the Democratic Socialists of America and the militant organization ACORN. The party's Chicago chapter also included a large contingent from the Committees of Correspondence, a Marxist coalition of former Maoists, Trotskyists, and Communist Party USA members..

Though Illinois was not one of the states that permitted electoral fusion, in 1995 Barack Obama nonetheless sought the New Party's endorsement for his 1996 state senate run. He was successful in obtaining that endorsement, and he used a number of New Party volunteers as campaign workers. By 1996, Obama had become a member of the New Party."

Obama is definitively a capitalist. Very much an interventionist mixed economy capitalist though, with a new spin on the ol' "the business of govt is business." That isn't socialism though. Case in point: a socialist's response to the housing bust would be to end homeownership, not subsidize and encourage it, much less bail out the banks FFS.

Calling Obama a socialist is the result of ignorant people who have about three words in their political vocabulary using one of the few words they know.

OK From WIKI

"Fascism, pronounced /'fæ??z?m/, comprises a radical and authoritarian nationalist political ideology[1][2][3][4] and a corporatist economic ideology.[5] Fascists advocate the creation of a single-party state.[6] Fascists believe that nations and/or races are in perpetual conflict whereby only the strong can survive by being healthy, vital, and by asserting themselves in combat against the weak.[7] Fascist governments forbid and suppress criticism and opposition to the government and the fascist movement.[8] Fascism opposes class conflict, blames capitalist liberal democracies for its creation and communists for exploiting the concept.[9] In the economic sphere, many fascist leaders have claimed to support a "Third Way" in economic policy, which they believed superior to both the rampant individualism of unrestrained capitalism and the severe control of state communism.[10][11] This was to be achieved by a form of government control over business and labour (called "the corporate state" by Mussolini).[12][13] No common and concise definition exists for fascism and historians and political scientists disagree on what should be in any concise definition.[14]

Following the defeat of the Axis powers in World War II and the publicity surrounding the atrocities committed during the period of fascist governments, the term fascist has been used as a pejorative word"

I personally agree with the Whole "pejorative" aspect

No those are opinions

Facts are

2+2=4

Water is composed of 2 hydrogen atoms and 1 oxygen atom at the molecular level

July 4th is the forth day of the 7 month of the year

The moon revolves around the earth

The earth revolves around the sun

The Earth rotates on its Axis

If (2 +x)/3=4 then x = 10
