This isn't as bad as terror alerts permanently stuck on Elevated (yellow): Significant Risk of Terrorist Attacks. The fact that they're even called "terror" alerts is annoying.

The dangers of tsunami's are real and unfortunately people will only pay attention when tragedy occurs.

People only pay attention if something unfortunate or big/important/disassterous happens. It's thje selfish code of life and it sickens me.:(:disgust::thumbsdown:

A tsunami washing away California wouldn't be so bad. I could then sell all that cheap neveda desert land at a profit! $$$$

This has been discussed for years. It most likely won't happen because landslides come down in chunks, not all at once. I'd be more worried about THIS than an Atlantic landslide., as it is something that happens on a regular cycle and is way overdue :(

tidal wave. tsunami is pacific.

Tsunami is what they are called anywhere. Tidal wave is an out of date term. And they are unlikely to happen in the Atlantic.

I remember seeing a show on the Discovery Channel about the possiblility of a like 200 ft wave caused by a massive landslide. Dunno where (I think one small one happened in Alaska)

Sorry but all of this media paranoia about everything is really starting to piss me off. I could get hit by a drunk driver everytime I get in my car, but I don't worry about it. I could get hit in the nuts by lightening - but I don't let that get me down.

Maybe the media should concentrate on the disaster THAT HAS ACTUALLY TAKEN PLACE and publicize the best ways each of us can offer assistance as opposed to dwelling on what could potentially happen to us.

I try to put reality in what I should be concern about by looking how likely it is that an event will happen to me.

I'm imagining SF, Oakland, Richmond, Berkeley, etc, getting hit by a tidal wave and for some reason I'm not sad or scared :)
Lord knows LA could use a little cleansing.
