Really does anyone take the time to find out what they are buying car or otherwise is made where?, these days folks just want the best deal and with cars costing what they do so do I..

I bought my Maxima specifically because it was made in Japan. It was the last of the Japanese made Maximas as all the new ones from 2004 on are made in the United States. I got a great deal on mine and ultra low financing while people were paying msrp for the new models which I think are ugly anyway.

My wife's car was made in Japan as was my bike.

Yes, some of us do (Ford Fusion for example. Love the car, hate the fact that it's made in Mexico and I refuse to "BY" it because of that alone).

Well, I'll never buy a car with a VIN starting with a 3. Knowing that much doesn't take any time. If it's a 1, 2, W or J I don't really care which plant it came from.

Wow, there's been all of what, three on-topic (and non-P&N) posts in this thread?

I've got to wonder what difference it makes to buy only automobiles made in America (versus American companies manufacturing elsewhere), when many/most of the components are foreign anyway and only final assembly is here.

If I'm not mistaken, USA imports a ridiculous amount of lumber because hippies put harsh restrictions on trees. USA does not have a shortage of trees, but is not allowed to cut down most of those trees.

You must be mistaken. The amount of US softwood imports is due to the fact that Canadian provinces subsidize lumber production. Therefore they can produce their product at a price lower than cost. But don't let that stop your uninformed whining!

I would drive an American car as a daily driver if they actually had a car with an emphasis on efficiency that I could afford.

My utility vehicle is American - Chevy C1500, but I doubt I put more than a 1,000 miles a year on it as it is too expensive to drive all the time.

You should have bought a diesel I get 21 MPG in F350, better than my towncar. Keep in mind too this is 8000 lbs rolling vs only 5000 for a towncar.

It should improve too. I just swapped out aggressive mud tires for all terrains. Have not had a chance to log yet, those mud grapplers were 38 x 15s and still got 21 MPG..new tires are 36 x 15s wide. Reason I switched? Wife would not ride with noise.:p Some guys get 25MPG with stock tires... I never had them stock so can't verify.

Yes. I always ask the dealer "Where was this car assembled?"

My last car was from Indiana (Fort Wayne IIRC). My current car was made in Canada.

ah nothing more blissful than the belief that all of your country's problems are the fault of the political party that you dont associate with.

what are the percentages E? You can't escape some foreign parts even F350 is like 5%.

We're talking about where the vehicle it is assembled, not where the parts are manufactured.

Again cheap is more expensive. While you put food on foreign tables you also have to pay unemployed here not to work in something called taxes or debt as the case may be. Most Americans play one move chess on a three move board hence why they are worried about what a car cost which used to be a cash and carry item back in the day.

Republicans don't buy foreign cars? My Mother-In-Law just bought a brand new Mercedes-Benz E350 and she's as hard core republican as you can get. She hasn't owned an American car since 1994.

Oh, I see you live in the land of retards...nevermind. :p

And you ASSume it was a Republican driving the vehicle. Could have just as easily been a Democrat, since they tend to be pro-union (UAW), right? :hmm:

One I saw, while it lacked spelling errors, it lacked intelligence. The one I saw was screened on the back of an SUV to the point that it would have obscured the driver's rear-view vision, but it's the same message:
Yes, the world is ending in 2011.

They're really, 100% absolutely sure about it this time. :D

I guess afterward they'll get right back to figuring out when the world is really going to end.
Stupid people...so many stupid people.

Holy shit, looks like there's a little bario under that sign. :D

yeah, but democrats can spell. SO the assumption of political affiliation was based off of education level, not Union/worker sympathies. :p
