Do your vending machines take dollar coins? or two dollar coins?
Even though I've been up to Niagara Falls about 30 times in my life I never noticed.
The reason I ask is recently I was reminded about the vending machines at Hynix that took dollar coins, and the change machine right next to them that issued dollar coins. I thought it was a smart fuckin system.

The best vending machines I ever saw were in Norfolk at the dry dock company. I think it was Norshipco.
They had hot food.

Most Canadian vending machines take loonies(1$) and toonies(2$)

yes, most of our vending machines take our $1 and $2 coins.

Yea they take coins. Both loonies and toonies. Updated ones take apple pay, google pay, cc, debit, etc.

I had some in Vermont years ago and it was pretty good. I had some in Maine over the summer it was real good. Neither was good enough to make me want more but I’ll have it again if the opportunity arises again.

I've had it a couple times at a restaurant, and subsequently made it at home. It's a fun occasional treat, but damn, so salty.

Montreal is the place to get it.

Some locations are better than others.

There are some youtube videos with people taste testing poutine across Montreal.
 
Yeah they take loonies, toonies and quarters mostly. I imagine lot of them will take smaller change too. I remember when you used to get a pop for a dollar from a vending machine. Now most of them charge over 2 bucks.

Come to think of it, how do vending machines, parking meters etc in the states work?

Used to work mostly on quarters, now many work on credit/debit cards
 
Most US snack and soda vending machines take US dollar coins too.

About 12 years ago I would routinely break a $20 bill by buying a single stamp from a USPS vending machine with to get $19.xx change in mostly dollar coins. Guess they were expecting me to buy a book of stamps. 😉 Haven't seen those USPS vending machines that take cash in a while... just the credit/debit-only APU.

Around 20 years ago many were literally advertising on the vending machines that they took the new dollar coins, complete with protruding banners things calling attention to it (paid for by a US mint marketing campaign for the dollar coin). The same marketing budget had TV commercials showing a monochrome Washington clubbing and dancing and stuff since the Sacagawea golden dollar coin had freed him up to go party.

Small town USA here.
We have a carbonated beverage machine at work that'll take change or dollar bills. 75 cents for 12oz can.
Have not noticed any parking meters that take any type of auto-pay. Quarters only for the few i have used.
Air at the gas stations & car washes are quarters only. Car washes will have a machine to break bills.
