So, title & summary say it all.

Have a Motorola V325. Cool phone, but battery hardly lasts 5 minutes anymore. (Wife's still lasts about 20-30 minutes so probably just unlucky battery). I already have an iPod Touch (jailbroken) and while I wish Verizon had the iPhone, I'm content w/ my Touch.

So, I've been the razors, flips, keyboard phones, etc. Nothing that I've seen casually impresses me in Verizon.

Anybody know of a phone (or phone upcoming) in VZW's arsenal worth going to??

TIA

In my opinion, the e815 is the best phone that Verizon has ever had, followed by the V325i. That is, as far as actual phones go, and not PDA phones. My sister used my old V325i until about a week ago... her battery was shot to hell, and rather than replace the battery, she bought a new phone. A coworker still has another year on her contract before upgrade, and she has a V325, and her battery also doesn't seem to last more than a few hours.

Ya, I can't complain about the V325 as a *phone*. (The V325 was/is quite hackable. I was able to do quite a bit to mine before I got bored. The i gave it BT, but I'm not a BT guy just yet).

Either version gets great reception as a phone. After my LG VX4400, I thought I'd be an LG guy forever, but I've been pleased w/ the Motorola.....(minus the short-lived battery).

(Oh, if a mod wants to move this, that's fine. I'm old school AT/TIMO so not so used to all these bazillion different sub categories we have these days).

In my opinion the V325 was never suitable to use as a phone...
My friend's took nearly a second to process a command in the menu.
Press down button, wait 1 second, press down button, wait 1 second, repeat until you are at the right item. Then press ok button, wait 1 second for next menu to appear. utterly ridiculous in my opinion.
I used to have a v710 and it was much much better than the v325... and it sucked compared to my current 2 year old lg vx9800 (The V, predecessor to The enV)

Well, I can't say either of the two (my wife's or my own) are *that* slow, but I know what you're talking about compared to either the 9800 or the current enV. (It seems everyone has the EnV these days).

But call reception on the V325 is unmatched, imho. I've owned tons of phones from my old PacBell days, to AT&T & now to VZW for the last few years. The v325 simply makes calls almost anywhere. I wouldn't want to sacrifice that for whatever a new phone might offer.

I just got the LG Dare, upgraded from my old E815 which was getting old and worn out. I like it, it's fun to use, the web browser works fairly well, and its reception is actually pretty good. If you were considering getting an ipod, but didn't want to use At&T's crap network, the Dare is a good alternative.

Verizon's phone selection is generally utter crap but they have some decent stuff it all depends on what you're looking for.

I like my env2, it's not perfect but it works well enough for everything I need it to do.
The Samsung Glyde is pretty neat but I've heard there are some issues with it. A Coworker of mine has one and seems to like it.

I don't know much about the other verizon phones except that I hate the razr.

I have heard that there will be a tentative release date for the Palm 800w for November. It looks like a very promising phone. I have the Sammy i760 which has been a pretty good phone since the windows mobile 6.1 release and now that verizon is offering a 29.99 personal data plan.

My friend had two of them... first one she killed... both took probably .8 seconds for every menu command.

My V710 had excellent reception, and from what I've heard the E815 did too...
I thought I would suffer going to my all-digital VX9800(not to mention, no external antenna), but really there have been very very few places I've been unable to make a call...
