If i were to have an AnandTech polo shirt made, is there anything that stops me? Who can i get permission from to make this? If i made this shirt for myself, do you forsee it being a problem? If i were to have them mass-produced, would you object? Feel free to contact me any way you see fit. Thanks

Im working on it with anand, he and I are both working very hard to iron out the final details and getting all the startup work complete. it will get done.

general rule of thumb, you have to have direct written consent to print / use another persons / companies logo(s) as for your single shirt request.

Who do I ask for permission to make my own hat, for me to personally wear.

I mean no offence Narzy or Anand, but I want a hat and have been waiting over a year and a 1/2. the answer always is: "It's in the works." Building's don't take this long to build.

<---- wants to spend his own money on ONE hat that I will wear and advertise AT for FREE! I want to pay to let you advertize on my head. $50 for a hat is no big deal to me. I just want a damn hat so I can say I love it here.

Nothing like crashing my e-mail program. I hate when I type out a nice letter, only to have my program crash and take it all with it. That is annoying.

Just get it made.. Do you think Anand will sue someone for making ONE hat? (Notice the "ONE") Now if you make many and sell them, you should expect to hear from lawyers.

As far as being a "registered" trademark, you can claim trademark by use, it doesn't have to be registered to be enforceable. (Thanks Dan! (aka AssHat)

Well, Anand has not replied, so I took that as a "No." I could probably make a hat, and doubt I would be tracked down for it, but it would just be wrong and generaly, I try to keep the "wrongness" at a minimum . It is his name after all Note that I will not make a hat, but I will be pissed off that I did not even get an answer that said "no.".

Bad buisness practice. AT has tons of people who want to throw money at Anand in exchange for his name on hats, shirts, mugs, etc. Maybe I missed something in all the buisness courses I took.

i have a feeling if you wanted to make yourself a hat or shirt no one is going to sue you. it'd be like buying a patch from your favorite band and putting it on a jacket (altho you can't buy an anandtech patch) so maybe that isn't the best example. anyway, if you're not making money off it i think it falls under fair usage? who knows. go to the mall, they make hats there (at least they do at my mall).
