What exactly is in hershey's "chocolate" in this new formula? I thought cacao = chocolate. Cocoa butter = cacao. Cocoa fat = cocoa butter. Where is the chocolate coming from? Are they adding minuscule amounts of cocoa powder or something?

Products such as Whatchamacallit, Milk Duds, Mr. Goodbar and Krackel no longer have milk chocolate coatings, and Hershey?s Kissables are now labeled ?chocolate candy? instead of ?milk chocolate.?

It still offers real milk chocolate in Hershey?s Kisses, Reese?s Peanut Butter Cups and its classic chocolate bar.

?And recently it put back the milk chocolate in Almond Joy because consumers complained,? Lieberman said Friday in her report.

We're good. The only thing I'm pissed about is the Krackel bars. Used to be my favorite Halloween candy. :(

Yeah. Their regular bars have always been uninspiring. No complexity or subtlety of flavors, just overly done sugar sweetness. Not bad if you want to make some cheap s'mores, but not good for chocolate enjoyment.

Wasn't Hershey's trying to get the definition of chocolate legally changed to 'chocolate-flavored substance' ?

I love their peanut butter cups so as I long as they don't mess with that I'm ok.

They have the worst tasting chocolate in the industry. Their kisses smell and taste terrible.

I eat chocolate at alarming rates. My wife got two bags of those things and asked me 1 month later why they werent eaten. Told her they arent good.

This is like the second or third item they've change or tried to change. Let's not try and keep quality up when we can try and keep selling bars on the 49cent aisle.

About as bogus as going to the freezer section and picking up some ice cream, like we're not going to realize the containers are getting close to 50% the size they used to be.

How long before it's just hardened Crisco with artificial chocolate flavoring added?
But golly, it sure will be cheap!

They're not "smaller," it's more "convenient." Spatially efficient. New and improved. ;)

Raising prices makes people cut back. So you just make the package smaller, and do what you can to distract the customer. Psychology is fun.

I'm kind of surprised that they aren't putting false bottoms into the containers - raise up the bottom, and thicken the lid. That way you can have a package that looks like the original size, but has less product.
Andes Mints are a great example of this - the clear part of the wrapping shows the product. Then there's opaque wrapping around the perimeter. Think that is covering more chocolate mints? Nope, it's covering empty cardboard filler.

I only really care about the cocoa butter count when I'm cooking with chocolate (re: melting it) and I'd never use hershey's for that.

Whether or not you like hershey's, surely as a consumer you must be offended that they might be putting no cacao at all into a product they can somehow get away with labeling as "chocolate candy"?? WTF. Chocolate should not be allowed if there's no damn chocolate.

I bet the price doesn't come down either.

Hershey's will be history.

I have not been buying anything Hershey since they moved to Mexcio anyway last year.

Their cacao reserve dark chocolate bars are good. Everything else sucks. I wouldn't have called it "chocolate" even when it was made with cocoa butter.
