Hershel Walker is an ex-nfl star who used to play with the Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys.

He eats once a day, skipping breakfast and lunch. After a long, intense day of training, he eats salad and bread for dinner. He doesn't care for meat or fuss about getting enough protein. Walker's a vegetarian.

No meat. Not much protein. It goes to show you that supplements and those expensive protein shakes are a waste of money. He only consumes only salads and bread. How the hell doesn't he get hungry?

Amazing for someone who is near 50. I wonder if the American diet causes the body to age faster.

he is a genetic freak

"dinner which consists of soup, salad and bread. He does not eat red meat but will have chicken on occasion."

How the hell he can do 1,500 pushups pullups, etc. every day is amazing. How he finds time to do that, is also amazing. Lol

I can't even fathom how long it would take me to do 500 pushups.

That's 30 years of repetition and conditioning.

I had no idea that he was doing the MMA thing. The guy is freaking near 50 and he's battling men half his age.

I'm pretty sure he's done with MMA, he just wanted to try it out for a challenge.

If I recall, he never really "hit the weights", just did pushups and situps, even during his NFL career. He definitely has unusual genetics.

Your premise is idiotic. You NEED protein to build muscle, as simple as that.

Plus he has a great head of hair and only looks thirty at most. It's a testament to a clean lifestyle, which sometimes also gets mocked.

I remember a interview with him. he said as a kid he would do situps and pushups during commercials. when pushups got to easy he changed how he had his hands. eventually he was doing a bunch of pushups with his hands together (fucking hard to do).

you figure thats 10 minutes of work every 20? yeah...insane

Hershel Walker is in fantastic shape depsite a sub-optimal training regimen and eating a sub-optimal diet. As most here noted, it's because of genetics.

You can model what he does, or you can do what thousands of athletes with average genetics do to maximize their potential and lift heavy weights and eat lots of protein. Up to you.

He's actually 52 now.

He's always looked like that. Genetic freak...maybe. Anyone who has his speed was born with it, but the best of them are usually the hardest workers.

As to how he has time to do all the push-ups and sit-ups, he's a retired NFL Hall-of-Famer. He has plenty of money. He has nothing BUT time to do things like that.

That he's continued to work out like that and stay in shape all these years is a testament to his work ethic.

Genetics yes, but Rich Roll uses a similar diet (veggies, nuts, breads) and he's arguably the most fit man alive. He eats all the time though, not once a day.

Definitely true. But many different plants/legumes have a decent amount of protein.

yep

and there are a lot of plant based protein powders

hemp
pea
soy
brown rice

there is sun warrior which i think is made with hemp, pea, and cranberry protein

make sure to buy natural or organic soy protein as the mass produced stuff is made with hexane

Says he does 3,500 situps and 1,500 pushups daily. And he used to do more, something like 5,000/day.

And the man is a beast, I remember watching him play - multiple guys would try to tackle him, and after a few seconds he'd start moving the entire pile of 6 or 7 guys and push the entire group of them several yards into the end zone using his insane leg strength.

Which is why anything he says about himself should be taken with a grain of salt.

I believe his diet was debunked many years ago.

But I do remember a long time ago, while he was watching tv, he would do a handstand and perform overhead presses(upside down) to work out.

I can't remember if he made it but I know he once tried out for the USA Bob sledding team for the Olympics.

first off he has a unnaturally low body fat

dangerously so

he also lost a fair amount of muscle mass for sure

what is fit

While fit, looks way unhealthy to me. Vegetarians have the potential for many deficiencies, including essential fatty acids (including Omega3 and aminos, iron, zinc, B12, K2 and D3 etc.
