I'm done with HoN; I had a frustrating night where the unit AI became unbearable. I'm tired of Devourer sucking compared with Pudge (for example when trying to hook out of range, he walks over and then casts hook, by which time they have run away and you waste a spell). Treant sucks compared to his DOTA counterpart. Then you have the Succubus / arachna who are WTF overpowered along with Jereziah over everybody else. When I play a SD game and get to pick Jereziah it's basically a guaranteed win.
I know it's still beta so the balance is way out of whack, but it's annoying that you have to pick so and so characters over everybody else or your chances of losing increase dramatically. I don't like how the system tracks your stats making it so that you can't test out new theories and ideas, instead you're locked into doing the same old bullshit tried and true strategies over and over, which kills the fun. In DOTA I could just create a new account to mess around with different item builds and try new heroes, in HoN so far it seems like you cannot do that. I am hoping that the non-beta release of the client will fix some of these things, but as it stands in beta I am done with the game for now.
I give credit to the developers for trying hard to quickly patch things in though, and playing beta's often leads to a bad experience with a game, that's nothing new and to be expected that the "polishing" of the game comes between beta and launch as well as after launch. It's a fun game if you pick the main league worthy heroes and just chain stun / disable during group ganks, but for the secondary "fun pick" heroes the game sucks. The pathing has a lot of work to do, for example I was playing a couple nights ago and clicking to get away; my character runs up to the other character who was trying to move in the opposite direction and instead of going around each other they both just stand there looking at each other for 2-3 seconds, which was long enough for enemy to catch up and gank me. The votekick system is also retarded, why have the enemy team have a say in a vote to kick out a team member who's feeding or acting like a d!ck.
Once they fix the issues above, I might give it another shot though, but for now I'm done with the beta. Final pet peeve: the graphics are awesome compared with DOTA, but for some reason during massive team battles the colors cause me to get confused as to who is who and where they are; since there isn't a glow around the character's base I have trouble targeting people.
