Release date posted as Feb 3 rather than 28th, which of course may mean nothing. Any thoughts as to whether it's better to order via Amazon link or direct from Target? Either way gets charged shipping...

See official release date link/info from my earlier post.

I read on their site a while back that when asked if it was going to be more like HOMM 3 or 4, they replied "It will be a mixture of both".

Thought, from the videos of the gameplay I've seen, it looks a LOT like HOMM 3. I think it's going to be a great game :)

Same - coupon didn't work on amazon, but it's fine on Target.com.

Ordered mine too. Coupon code brings shipping down to .99, very nice.
I still remember the first time I played HMM3- was visiting a buddy I hadn't seen in a few years, he suggested we do some gaming... started playing Friday evening, next we knew it was Sunday morning... still have those saved games stashed somewhere.

any way to get rid of the shipping? When it's finally released, will the shipping be reimbursed if you want super saver or if you have amazon prime?

the vendor is actually target so it wouldn't qualify for super saver shipping

Thanks for pointing that out, DigiBoOTy. I guess that means it wouldn't qualify for Prime either -- grrr.

you played 2 when it came out and thought it had terrible graphics? Are you kidding me?!? That game came out in 1996 and I remember thinking how crazy the storybook style graphics were. Unless you played it recently, then I don't know what to tell you. I love 1, 2 and 3. If it weren't for balancing issues, I think the second would be better than the third!

thanks for the heads up, i still remember playing homm3 to death. FYI Disciples 2 is kinda similar game play but with much better graphics, i greatly enjoyed all the expansions to boot. But it aint no HOMM3 thats for sure.

I'd also recommend Age of Wonders: Shadow Magic for anyone that likes the turn-based strategy games. It's probably the closest thing to Master of Magic available right now. The combat is based on many individual units instead of the stacks of units as in HOMM. Terrain and cover also play a huge role in movement and ranged attacks.

Anyways, it's been out awhile now and should be super cheap ($10-15).

$21.73 for me after tax, code, & cash back. It's been up long enough that it shouldn't be a mistake, but I wouldn't put a cancelation past them.

I ordered this. Was a huge Heroes fan until IV came out. Hated that game compared to the First 3.

Ditto. I completed all of them.

Disciples II is pretty good.
Age of Wonders: Shadow of Magic is very good.
Master of Magic was awesome in his heyday (1993). It was the best turn based fantasy strategic. Kinda like a fantasy Civilization.
