Finally found a few numbers. One site says .03 to .05 percent and the other says 1-3 in 100,000... Neither came from a reputable site. Think either of these are accurate?

true human hermaphrodism is extremely rare, something along the lines of a dozen individuals worldwide.

pseudohermaphrodism is more common as well as Androgen insensitivity syndrome.

a pre or post-op transsexual is a whole different matter.

It was mentioned in several of my bio classes that 1% of the American population has some sort of hermaphroditic characteristic. That includes people who are genetically male, but phenotypically female; the reverse of that; true hermaphrodites; also those with extra chromosomes (trisomic and monosomic) for the sex chromosomes; etc. True hermaphrodites are not as common, but are more common than you'd imagine.
