I don't disagree with that. I still can't imagine myself voting for him, but I can at least imagine myself not voting against him as I did last time. But I was referring to Obama circa 2008, when his sole qualifications were his brown skin and his ability to sonorously read a TelePrompter.
Senator Obama's main qualifications in 2008 were a far better campaign staff than had Senator Clinton, and the opportunity to run against the McCain/Palin ticket with the economy in free fall under a Republican president. Any vaguely competent Democrat could have won the general election against the fiercely waffling Senator McCain and his proudly "Rogue" running mate, given the other circumstances.

I heard only a fews ago that so far he's raised sum total of $16k in political contributions. That'll need to pick up a wee bit if he's to have any chance.

He's a bit of an unknown to most. And the progressive right does not like him for obvious reasons so he will get no support initially from the GOP. I am sure if he can get out there and connect he can raise much more, if he cannot he will fade away like all the others.

The GOP is not backing a black man to be President, even if he discovered a cure for cancer. Its a waste of time......................

C'mon, he's definitely no Alvin Greene. Greene is inarticulate and almost certainly either borderline retarded or drugged to the gills; he got votes only because people hated the Democrats they actually knew anything about. (And if you only heard about him and didn't hear, well, HIM, an honorably discharged veteran makes an attractive candidate.)

Herman Cain is the antithesis of that. He is articulate and highly intelligent, with a track record of proven success in business as well as being a former regional head of the Federal Reserve, an organization not exactly known for affirmative action. A demonstrated mastery of business and finance is not exactly chump change in the political field. It's head and shoulders above someone whose business acumen consisted of suggesting that he be made into an action figure. It's head and TOES above it. Cain has literally nothing in common with Greene except a surfeit of melanin and African features.
