Here's your 'stock' Gingerbread Droid 1 build guys

I've been using it for a while. Only problem so far is the wifi deal with the kernel, other than that it's super smooth.

I had to stop using it because I had the issue with 3G dropping out after calls. Other than that it was great, but that issue drove me nuts.

That build still has choppy audio over bluetooth if you use the device while listening to a stream if it has not been rebooted in a few hours.

And you're telling me this why? 😛 Report it to Pete.

His latest tweets say he's working on GPA12 right now, but I haven't looked at his blog for a changelog.

GPA12 is out, he also has a "beta" 900mhz kernel overclock now.

He is suggesting that those of us with skipping audio in GPA11 use a 1ghz kernel.

Still holding out here. I like ChevyNo1's kernels...especially the ULV versions. And now he also has compcache included 🙂

Alright, boys, Pete has released his 1ghz kernel, this along with his Gingerbread GPA12 ROM seems to eliminate the audio choppiness and lag problem that seemed to occur after the system had been on for a while. The 1ghz kernel is like night and day over the stock kernel in terms of speed in Gingerbread. This guy is an excellent modder.

I'm kinda holding out for the CM7 RC for the Droid before making the full switch to Gingerbread. These builds are too 'stock' for me. I miss the CM features. :/ Yeah, I'm spoiled.

Just noticed that Project Elite has their gingerbread ROM up. Giving it a try now.

edit: So far, I think I've become a convert. 😀

Well, it's hard to say as it's been less than a day. The best thing about it is that, so far, everything just works. Nothing funky or strange has happened with it. The other best thing is that it's fast.

With some of the other roms, the touch keyboard sometimes had this sluggishness to it where you type ahead of the text showing up. Not so with PE (so far anyway). Screen transitions are fast, widgets haven't randomly stopped working, no redraws on the homescreen, no random FC's, basically no problems so far.

Going back to speed, it immediately felt faster than UD3.0 did.

So far, so good.

Edit2: Someone reported the "no data after call" issue, I haven't had that problem with any of the GB roms. According to the PE dev, their rom doesn't have this problem and suggest that it may be due to a bad download or something else.

Edit: additional info

Some of the random problems with a few of the other Gingerbread roms I've tried: apps starting at random, gallery problems (requiring battery pull), random hot reboot, weird text messaging errors. These were infrequent, but they were still there.

Random cool thing that I have not seen in other roms: previews of bootanimations that you can then choose to install.

Screenshots of "Elite Options"

Most of it is the usual stuff.

Just downloaded and installed to my OG. Looks very nice thus far. 0 complaints, and quite impressed.

Same. I have noticed odd little 'stops' though. It hasn't locked up to the point of a reboot yet, but I have had to click 'wait' a number of times while the screen goes unresponsive.

I suppose at time I have seen a stop, never really a wait though. Granted, I am a new Droid user so I dunno if I'd have ever seen that before. Definitely has been stable and seems quicker.

Haven't seen any of that. I'm using Pete's new 1.05Ghz kernel and have taken to using setcpu with the following profiles:

1050max
600min

Screen off
600max
225min

I don't know if maybe the kernel or the setcpu profile is keeping me from seeing any stops or not.

So far today, at 70%, 6 hours on battery, browsed the internet for an hour, downloaded and updated some apps, and have a 10 minute phone call.

I'm using the RaidZero 1Ghz LV kernel, and the built in interactive governor. 250min-1000max. Still, it managed 18hours on battery with some light browsing, twitter, facebook, and sms'. Was at 40% this morning when I plugged it in.

I've tried a number of GB ROMs but haven't found anything stable enough to go daily with yet, currently on BB .6.2.1 but you PE guys are tempting me, no FCs so far?

I've had a few FCs with PE v5. Nothing major, couple in Market and a couple in Gmail. Nothing I would consider a deal breaker that would stop me from using it as a daily driver though.

I have had zero FCs so far.

Specific "negatives" I've experienced so far:

Pew Pew has locked up twice after completing a game.
Camera Through doesn't work, hasn't worked on any GB rom that I've tried
Stock music app stopped randomly when Market was auto-downloading all of my apps
Cubed exhibited odd behavior that went away after I killed it and started it up again

Awesome, thanks! Time to give it a spin!

I just loaded this one up today. I didn't realize that the kernel and the ROM were entirely separate, and updating to that kernel was as easing as selecting the update on the phone. Honestly, it seems snappier to me than the 1.1GHz kernel base that was configured during the upgrade to PE.

Is anyone using a CPU modifier app as well? Any preferences here?

most people use SetCPU for playing with CPU clocking and such.

Im still running SS4.9, however this talk of GB working well might make me try something new. Id never heard of project Elite until that pie chart showed like 50% of romers use it. ill prob give it a go

I like SetCPU for setting profiles for things like when it's plugged in or the screen's off and so on.

I checked PE out after that pie chart as well. An additional problem that might have been fixed with the update:

MP3 player will quit on occasion when browsing the internet. Seems random so far. There will be times when it doesn't happen at all, or it'll quit 5 minutes into browsing.
