I posted a thread earlier regarding my Gigabyte 7850 OC scored 7.3 on WEI...

I just downloaded 3Dmark 11 and got this score...

I am very new to this kinda bench marks, no idea what it is talking about....

can someone explain to me? which number is the one i need to be looking at?

Score
P1231 3DMarks

Graphics Score
1010

Physics Score
7344

Combined Score
2038

Yup, something's wrong. You should have a graphics score of about 6000. Your physics score shows that your CPU is probably working fine. I'd say the card is stuck at idle clocks. It could be your PSU or maybe a problem with the card.

You should download MSI Afterburner and view the graph it provides of GPU clocks and usage after completing a 3dMark run.

Not a bad suggestion, but I doubt that even running at PCIe 1.0 would produce these results.

I had a card that was running PCIe 1.1 @ 2x and let me tell you...that was crazy slow lol. Needed to re-seat the card again.

I think he is running the extreme preset. If that is the case, his score is fine. FYI OP, most people use the performance preset.

That's a good point. As a first step, the OP may wish to pull the card out, blow out any dust around the PCIe slot, and reseat it. It may not be making good contact with the PCIe x16 connections.

I'd still like to see if the card is running at the proper clocks, though.

It was in performance mode. I will try all your guys' suggestions tonight when I get home. Thank you all! I'll keep this thread updated.

Btw my mobo is ga z77m d3h, which only has 2x pic-ex16 slots. But I'll try to re-seat it later

I did a quick WEI run while MSI Afterburner is on. I can see the core graph is at max when testing graphic, and the memory is at max all the time (no changes at all).

Look at GPU-Z. It says PCIe 3.0 x16 @ PCIe 1.1 x16 It's probably throttling down because of power saving states.

You can turn those off if you want to by going to Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Power Options\Edit Plan Settings in windows explorer then click change plan settings, then click change advanced power settings and scroll down to PCI Express and you can turn power management off. That shouldn't have much effect but if it's not turning up when under load it can dramatically change your performance.

In GPU-Z next to the Bus Interface box there's a blue question mark. Press it and see if your PCI-e goes from 1.1 to 3.0. That will tell us if your power management is working correctly.

I just check the power options, the PCI-E power management is already off.

on the GPU-Z, i clicked the blue questions mark, and it did change to 3.0 from 1.1 when rendering.

please advise.

actually on the MSI Afterburner screenshot, I noticed that the memory usage remained very low all the time... could this be the problem?

Well, since it adjusted the link state for PCIe that can be ruled out.

WEI won't use a lot of memory at all so no, that's not a concern. Do you have the Uniengine Heaven benchmark? you can download it here http://unigine.com/products/heaven/

What I'd like you to do is turn on the OSD in afterburner and display your core frequency, memory frequency, GPU usage, memory usage and GPU temp while running Heaven with tessellation and AA turned up. This way we can see if your card is performing correctly in real time. Take note of your clock speeds and GPU usage percentage as well as the temp. If anything looks like it's too low or your temp goes too high then there is a problem. See what kind of FPS you get with the benchmark by pressing F9 after it's loaded (hint: press enter to cycle through all the scenes and when it's on the first scene again hit f9 to avoid stuttering and messing with the scores).

I did it on 3Dmarks 11, i had couple of screenshots after the test:

the memory usage still remain low under 500 MB tho...
graphic core max'd up when using...

What is the rest of your system specs? specifically CPU type and speed. Honestly I don't see any problems from what you've posted so far so the performance being somewhat low is very hard to diagnose.

Still, I think you should test other benchmarks and games too for compare against others online.

As I posted on the WEI thread, go to catalyst control center, and in the performance tab, change the slider to "performance", exit catalyst, restart computer; then relaunch catalyst, move the slider again to "balanced", restart computer again, re-run 3dmark.

BTW, download catalyst 12.7, they work wonders on Radeon HD7xxx ;)

my guess is that you have FSAA forced to like 8x or something.

Interesting point, although I don't think those settings affect WEI, and his score should be more like 7.6 on that.

Truth is that the 3dMark11 run looks perfect to me, although the temps are freakishly low. Is the Gigabyte cooler that good?

OP - uninstall all AMD drivers using the control panel, and then reinstall 12.7.

Even with a 2600k and 6970 stock my Extreme score for 3D Mark 2011 used to be 1600-1800. So even if he is running Extreme, his score is still very low.

Something is wrong somewhere.

Which drivers are these?

Tried resetting the card?

What is the system config?
