Here's one for ya: Why do you think most bathroom stall doors open INWARDS?

I know the handicapped stalls open outwards, which makes sense...but why do most of the "normal" stalls have doors that open inwards and often times give you very little room to get in and out!?

So in case you accidently open one that is occupado, you don't get a view of something that you wouldn't want to see 🙂

ok...that makes sense i guess

Ha, yeah what are you going to do if someone pulls the door open and you're sitting there pinching one--get up and fight for the door? Much easier to push the door closed if someone pushes it in.

It's faster for you to rush in and dump your load, also it prevents you to accidentally hit other ppl when you get out ....hehehe

wow..i guess someone put a lot of thought into stall design back in the day!

edit: but what about in movies where guys with guns who are chasing someone kick in each stall one-by-one? it's sorta a disadvantage then...

I would say that, plus 2 more reasons:

1) If opened from the outside by someone, you could stop them from actually entering by holding the door closed. Gives you more control and privacy.

&

2) If it opened outward, you have the chance of opening the door on someone that might be walking around out there. By making the door open inward, there is no reason to figure out the clearence of the door so it can swing freely and it makes the stall a completely self contained unit.

<------May be putting too much thought into this.

I'd say that is one of the biggest things - space. It doesn't take much room up and you don't have to worry about having a bathroom big enough for a 2 foot wide(or more) door to swing way open.

I thought that's why they installed those handy "lock" things

😉

i doubt that anyone could survive the stench long enough to walk past anything when i am dropping the bomb

So you can't read all the Phone Numbers, ect., on the back of it,
Till after you go in and " Take a Seat "

Gee I thought Everyone knew That !!!!

😉

Heh, so everything should be designed just in case guys with guns are chasing you? 😀

lol

I thought it wasa for when your trying to pass a giant log and you kick your feet out because your pushing so hard, that you don't kick open the door. The little stopper thing stops it from flying open when you're power crapping.

Here's a better question: why didn't my junior high school even have doors on the bathroom stalls? 😱

Okay actually there was a thread on that subject awhile ago... and this one also I believe.

Couldn't you just pull it out under the door? Or just climb out over?

My elementary school's restrooms had no stall doors. It didn't have toilet paper either. You had to ask the teacher. And there was a creepy janitor that worked there. Basically, if you were going to take a crap, you did it when you knew the janitor was elsewhere. Otherwise you tried to shield yourself with one of those giant trashcans. I think I took maybe 2 craps in 6 years of elementary school. One of them was in the teacher's lounge. 😉

Where did you go to school? The Adolf Hitler School of Fascism for Kids?

unfotunately, my elementry school was the same way..and in hS< it took months before they got put int...

as Worst of all, the teachers ALWAYS used up the toilet paper for tissues, dooming any stendts with log-anxiety
