i just cant bring myself to say macs are fast.


i've got a power book titanium g4 400 here, with 128mb of ram, and well its just painfully slow. it takes a good 5 minutes to boot up for god's sake. and its running os 9.1 os x would probably make it even slower.

My new iMac takes less than 1 minute (boots faster than my Win2K Athlon 1800+ PC). You might want to add some more RAM? One thing I have noticed is that OSX takes significant CPU resources to draw and redraw windows on the screen, and the GUI is far less "snappy" than Windows (or OS9).
