Just installed it on my main rig, (replaced Mint 9). Very impressed. Had to disable the overlay scrollbars but other than that it has no issues that I can see. A great OS!

Still need to keep Win 7 on my other computer to run my video conversion software though.

Is there a way to install it via WUBI or something like it? I can't mess with my laptop's HD's partitions right now.

Just installed 11 last night. Was going to go back to Ubuntu 10.04.2 after trying Opensuse 11.4 with gnome, but decided to give Mint a shot though I wasnt impressed w/ Mint10.

V11 seems to be running pretty, gotten some panel errors with applets and had to downgrade composition but all seems well now

Put this in a VM, I like it so far. I prefer the menu setup to Ubuntu gnome2 gui.

How?

I used to use Mint 8, had it on a separate machine at the office specifically for researching viruses and other malware without the fear of GETTING such things, personal browsing, also without any fear of infecting the company with a virus or similar. Additionally it helped retrieve data from hard drives, or even help clean up windows installations while drives are hooked to it as data disks because Linux does not care what you delete. While windows would throw errors or warnings up about permissions or system files. I had the machine hooked to a third monitor and used Synergy. It was great, but a little cumbersome, reboots sucked because i always had to have a keyboard and a mouse stashed up under the desk so i could get logged in and start synergy. Synergy also wouldnt work 100% right, some keys were flipped and I always had to compensate.

Now in an effort to become more streamlined and a little more green, I just set up my main Win 7 Workstation (whole office is MS) with doubled memory (8GB up from 4GB) and upgraded my 6.5.5 to VMWare workstation 7.1.4. Installed a second video card so i can run 3 monitors instead of two as previous. Then removed the physical Mint 8 box, and installed a Mint 11 VM. The Mint 11 box is what i'm posting from now. It is SO MUCH easier, and behaves exactly the same way as my setup before, only now the keys all work on the keyboard, and I dont need a second keyboard and mouse to log in if i happen to need to reboot the Mint box. Though i dont ever forsee having to do that... ever.

VMs are awesome. I still get all the benefits of using Linux, without needing a physical box. That definitly DOESNT defeat the purpose of using linux.

a WUBI install would be the same... you would be running Linux inside of Windows

the advice I have heard is to only use Windows (horrors!) to modify a windows partition, but Linux is fine to use on all others.
