If you have an aluminum case and you want to paint it, instead of using primer and base/clear coat, for a little more money (and a lot less effort) why not just get it powdercoated? The chances of getting a bad job are zero to none, and in all probability, it'll look better than the homemade finish.

EDIT: You'd still have to wax it if you want a shiny case... Mmm... Shiny.

a lot of people do just that; however as its very expensive and not an option for everyone, only the hardcore do that. :) BTW, I wouldn't even think of letting paint come within near proximity of an aluminum case! :)

I don't know if I could stand that unfinished metal all the time... I'd need to something to spruce it up.
