Here's a stumper...Where can I get a replacement connector for my power switch/front panel assembly?

I have a scenario where I need to replace the small two pin connector that runs from the power switch and connects to the motherboard power switch header. Usually the wire colors are blue and white. I'm not so needy of the actual wires but in particular I need the two pin black connector and the crimp pins that go into it...I know that companies like AMP or Molex make them but all sources I've found are distributors that have a minimum buy of around 1000 pieces. I want to buy them in smaller quantities...any links appreciated...Thanks!

Whoopsie! I know I know....I wanna...I thought I selected it but now it's here...can you help me out anyway?

Yes, try "I Wanna"!

But I feel your pain. :)

Do you have a Fry's nearby?

Why not open up some old piece of crap computer and snip out a connector plus a good length of wire? They use the same connectors for the reset switch and other stuff some I'm sure you can find one. Or you could even snip out a connector from your current system that you don't need and use it... Check the ethernet card wakeup lan cable if you have one... That might work (I think not but worth a check). If you know how to solder you could always snip the top off a jumper and solder on some new wires... (and of course cut the connection between the pins so it isn't a jumper)

edit: forgot the cheap bastid deal - just keep a screw driver around and leave the case off. Just short the pins to power up! Doesn't sound all that hot to me though.

Sorry again for the wrong forum topic...

CMV - You are on the right track but I've beat you to it. all the lone cases around the shopped have been "snipped" - I need to find a place that I could buy like ten at a time. I've looked around places like BGmicro and Chester Electronics but they don't seem to have them. I know I've seen them as like excess inventory at some places that deal in wierdo electronic items like this but for the life of me I can't find them now. Also how about those bags full of screws and stand offs that are usually packed with the cases when we buy em...

I've been putting together a pretty nifty line of cases and need the hardware that bascally turns a plain metal box into an actual computer case you and i can use...

Thanks Again!

Who needs molex, you can buy a switch at RadioShack and use a braided wire.... if you stretch the insulation out you'll be able to fit it right over the pin on the mobo - quick temp solution until you can scavange the right molex connector.

Jameco is a good place for that stuff, also www.radioshack.com has way more than their useless B&Ms.

I also 2nd starting it with a screwdriver (I have an '83 Ford T-Bird that has to be started that way).
