Here's a challenge

Here's the deal...

Trying to build a system for $400 USD (After Shipping/Taxes). Parts must be ordered from NCIX or TigerDirect.ca, or anywhere that ships to Canada that doesn't change an assload.

System should be an AMD, onboard video and sound is fine because it won't be for gaming. Overclocking should stay on the table, for future advancement.

This is what I need :

Processor
Ram (2GB, preferably)
Motherboard
Case

That's all, I think.

What's the best you can come up with?

2 gigs of ram will take up half your budget. You're going to have to stick to a gig or less.

I was thinking of something like a Sempron for a processor, like, $107CAD. I suppose I could go with 2x512's for RAM, then a cheap decent case and a decent motherboard. The rest can be put towards more ram if possible.

EDIT : Or I could put in for 1x1024 stick, for future expansion. Unless there are 3-4 slots on the Mobo.

Ok you ready?

Here goes first newegg asus a8n-vm csm mobo "refurbished" $50
second Amd 3000+ $150
third @ 2 one gig sticks memory $160
fourth Coolermaster Centurion case $45

EXCELENT COMP for the money.

Also try Outpost.com

They have a Mobo with siempron 2800 (retail) for $79, but it needs a video card.
