Wow those things can be vicious, I wouldn't have the balls to hunt one.

Supposedly there are more cougars out there than most people think. They're pretty shy animals so it's rare to see them.

In 1980, we lived in a small trailer park just outside a gold mine construction job...70 miles outside of Ely, Nevada.
A week or so before Christmas, my wife took my two small kids, (daughter was 1-1/2, son was almost 5) out walking looking for a tree to cut for Christmas.
She got almost a mile away from our camp and got nervous. She said she could hear a weird sound...and said it felt like she was being watched...so, she and the two kids trudged their way through the snow back to the camp...and said she KNEW she was being followed. She could hear noises, and continued to feel that she was being watched.
The next day, my father-in-law & I backtracked her steps, and sure enough...at some points, there were cougar tracks within 10-15 feet of theirs...and they had followed her and the kids for over half a mile...never getting TOO close, but never getting very far away.
One of the old-timers on the mine job had worked and hunted there for years, and told us that there were at least two adult male cougars in that part of the valley. They were seen from time to time, and folks found their deer kills every hunting season.
The footprints were pretty big, (snow prints are usually larger than life) and they indicated that the cat, had it really wanted to, could have taken any/all of them at its leisure. 😱

The camp was so far out in the boonies that there was only one telephone within about 20 miles...and we had herds of wild mustangs range through the camp several times per year...plus deer on a regular basis.

No we aren't but I don't care about grammar 😉

I wish you would apply this "I-don't give-a-shit" attitude to other things.

You're British, and English. If I'm not 100% sure that someone is English, I can usually play it safe and call that person "British."

Fair enough, Also I know that I'm british, i have no problem with calling people from britain british it's perfectly sensible what irritates me is when people differentiate between scottish/ welsh people but then refer to english as "brits" thats what irritates me, not being called british, which I obviously am...

No. No it's not. I'm not getting into this again, but killing is morally wrong IMO.

If there are other options it's not OK.

HAL9000 out.

why am I not shocked you stayed?

how about troll?

So his actions are in conflict with his beliefs, just like 98% of the rest of the world.
Only the 1% outlaw bikers and the 1% of Bikkuh/Bikkuhnis out there are likely to be excluded, IMO.😎

that would be the defenition of being hypocritical.

http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/Hypocritical

a person who pretends to have virtues, moral or religious beliefs, principles, etc., that he or she does not actually possess, especially a person whose actions belie stated beliefs.

He admitted he doesnt think killing for food is right. But continues to eat meat that was obviously killed so he could eat it. Thats text book hypocritical.

IIRC, "big cats" (as a classification) don't have retractable claws, but cougars do.

Lions, tigers, etc do not have retractable claws.

Pretty sure the cheetah is the only big cat that cannot sheath it's claws, as it's an adaptation for enhanced traction for the speeds they hit chasing down prey.

I've personally seen lions and tigers without their claws exposed too.

Just sayin...

Somehow, both of you didn't quote the "IIRC" part. :hmm:

You could just say:
No, Ichinisan. You do not "RC."

...but thanks.
