Here come the Feminists: Crying that O didn't fill out a womens bracket

Madness

As the father of two athletic daughters, President Obama should know all about the importance of sports for women and girls.

Which is why he should have filled out not only a men's NCAA tournament bracket but also a women's tournament bracket in his well-publicized appearance on ESPN last week.

I realize the men's tournament is much more popular than the women's, and Obama is a big men's hoops fan and avid player, but the fact remains there is another top-notch college basketball tournament going on at the same time, and he absolutely should have acknowledged it.

He also should have insisted on saying his bracket was for the "men's NCAA tournament."

Those who don't use that pesky little adjective ? and you know who you are ? are acting as if there's no women's tournament at all, or it's so beneath them, it's not worth mentioning. This is rather silly. It is 2009, after all.

While we're on the subject of adjectives, why do some schools still insist on calling their women's teams "Lady" this or "Lady" that? Is there any men's team out there that calls itself the "Gentlemen" (add the nickname)? Of course not. The best-known of the tea-and-crumpets set is the Lady Vols, who were upset by Ball State Sunday night in a tough, bruising, very unladylike game.

Defenders claim the use of "Lady" is tradition. It might be that, but it's also degrading and entirely unnecessary.

I wonder if and when the left will regret building up the PC movement. Hopefully he tells them to go pound sand; A broken clock is right twice a day after all.

< YAWN > 😛

And in more important news, I may get a haircut within the next few weeks. I'll be sure to send you a link to the breaking story.

More breaking news. You can now buy popcorn at the movies.

Can I assume we're talking about some type of fantasy sport betting deal? I don't recall the word bracket appearing anywhere in the President's job description, meaning that this is entirely his own personal, private business and he can do whatever the frack he wants. I wish people would stop trying to represent women (like me) by making such asinine fusses over irrelevant things.

press conf today: robert gibbs says that the president has never filled any womans bracket besides michelle's since they got hitched... that batchelor party doesn't count... and it happened during bush's administration... but he's going to have his new women and girls commission look into it...

you are kidding, right? You are making this a left/right issue? Slow news day?

if u have to ask (about one of the winster's posts), u just don't understand...

Whatever, nobody cares about women's basketball or ever will. Unless the players are nappy headed hos, in which case it will get somebody fired, but otherwise nobody cares.

An average democrat accepts these people as "own of their own" about as often as your typical republican accepts the abortion clinic bombers as one of theirs.

Reminds me of my favorite college changing to "Orange" five years ago. Still pisses me off.

Loozar thinks snow days off at his middle school are a left/right issue. Next week, he'll tell us why broken toenails are Obama's fault and how they're raise the deficit.

"Lady" is degrading now?

"Woman" is the preferred term? WTF? What happened to "Womyn?" I thought "Woman" was bad because it contains "man".

Make up your fucking minds you psycho fembot bitches.

You play with wolves you get bit. You have to know how to manage them if you want them to vote for you. Clearly Obama doesn't know how to manage.
I'm starting to think they would rather have had Hillary.

Well then, I'm going to have to insist that any cheerleaders for the women's pro basketball teams be exclusively male, and that every one of them be heterosexual ultra-right wing conservative christians who don't mind showing some skin to get the ladies in the stands in the mood for guzzling beer and stuffing down condiment laden hot dogs, soft pretzels and hot-cha-cha-cha nacho's till the vendors run out.

Hey children, I think winnar is as much a troll as the rest of you do, but he hardly made this a left/right issue.

Anyway, the author of that article needs to be smacked.

Exactly.

You mean other than his gratuitous, irrelevant mention in the last paragraph of his OP? 😕

I guess a valid point is made; it would have been a nice gesture on Obama's behalf to create a women's bracket in order to give the women's tournament a little more media attention. That being said, I certainly don't think it was sexist of the President to not make a women's bracket. Hopefully he will make one next year. If he does not make a women's bracket next year it is not a big deal. Nothing to see hear people, move on.

I understand why Harvey and others need to attack Winnar, but he didn't write this article.. USATODAY did.. He was just posting it here. I think winnar's point was that its ironic that the feminists are going after Obama now.. live by the sword, die by the sword..

I just don't think it's the responsibility of the president in any way to promote sports leagues.
