Arguing it’s prideful to claim to know the mind of God as a reply to a post that made no such claim.

If you have ever tried to explain anything to a conservative you will have noticed they can only follow you to the limits of their understanding and then get completely lost. Imagine God telling people far more primitive in their understanding of the nature of reality what to do with slavery. But if you implant the notion that slaves should be treated with human dignity and it takes, that will lead inevitably to freeing the slaves. No person who out of real self love would not want to be a slave himself will also not want to have any. I think God knew what He was doing but people have not caught up to Him yet.

This you?

This you?
Yes, notice who sees it and said it so that you could deflect to me. Every time you get pinned down on the facts you make some new charge. Can we just at the moment with your claim about strawman arguments and how I did that to you and not you to me. My comment about Republicans is derived from a lot of effort trying. I didn't just read somewhere you can't reach them without personal presenting them first with many many reasoned arguments that failed. I can understand you jumping to this new subject since I don't see you making such arguments. We liberals are noted for our capacity to consider things.

if you read that, and my single sentence reply, you’ll find it’s not out of context; nor is it a strawman.

However, you changed it to discuss humans instead of a deity, then proceeded to argue that…seemingly with yourself lol. As I made no such argument, that’s the misrepresentation of my statement, so you could argue that instead…aka a strawman. This change by you could also be labeled a red herring.

Now, you accusing me of basically moving the goal posts when “pinned down by facts” is just comical. I made a short statement, that applies to anyone who believes in a deity, it was plain and simple.

And since the Bible is God’s word, who are we to deny God and not enslave others. God says it’s just peachy, after all.
Again, Meghan54 said, "And since the Bible is God’s word, who are we to deny God and not enslave others. God says it’s just peachy, after all." This is where talk of a deity comes in. He disparaged God, religion and believers all in a short post implying that all of it is bull shit. My point was that based on what I observe about people we can't assume that if there actually were a God who Passed is rules to us that we actually understood them properly. If there is a God it would be arrogant to think we know His intentions and I gave an alternative interpretation as to why He might have said what he supposedly said.

Owing to the nature of people, if a God spoke there woould be as many notions of what was said as there were listeners, Then you came in and said, "A wet bird doesn't fly at might." I just wanted to say, no need to tell me.

Sure, I read the transaction, it had no bearing on my reply, nor should it have as it was irrelevant to my reply. I was replying to yours, specifically, and it was about how you think God was playing the long game.

Are you not a believer?

I got
Are you not a believer?
But it had all the bearing in the world on what I said. That is the point you are failing to grasp, I think. It makes no difference if I believe in God or not. I know that God is not the Beibg that people do and do not believe in. Try to take that in. It is not an easy point to understand.

Megham54’s post, I believe, was intended to ridicule a Supreme Being because He could support the enslavement of one person by another according to absolute rules that without any proof whatsoever are claimed by many to be His words. In this way they justify slavery and Meghan’s criticism makes all the sense in the world. Any person who practices the Golden Rule will understand that instinctively.

That means to me then, that such a God does not exist but was invented to justify slavery. And thus many people reject religion and the belief there is a God owing to such and similar absurdities.

But this tells us nothing really about if God exists and this is why what I believe about God yes or no is irrelevant. If there were a God who communicated to people in the past and owing to the fact that there is no physical proof now that He did, any such purported communications from Him, if based on evident moral fallacies we see in the words attributed to Him today would not constitute evidence He does not exist. The reason is that we humans are playing the Chinese Whisper Game.

As I also said, I regard you as a believer. That which you have defined for yourself as the absurdity that can’t exist does exist for you as an idea the concept you reject. You are living with an opinion that expresses. It is a product of thought, imagination, and memory.

I used to think that way. I experienced a mental event in which thought came to an end which altered understanding. There is no way to transfer it to you. Hope this helps.

I do not argue with you because I need to be right but because what I experienced had value and if it happened to me can happen to anybody, I believe.

lol, you talking yourself in circles. Meghan's post had no bearing on my reply to you, just because you want it to doesn't mean it did.

Your literal words: "I think God knew what He was doing but people have not caught up to Him yet."

You can regard me however you want, in your profound arrogance. No difference does it make in my life.

Everyone has an opinion about religion, and the vast majority of people think their opinion is the only possible rational viewpoint. That is demonstrated above yet again.

All this squabbling about religion is stressing me out.
