Hello all,

I'm seriously thinking about buying a Prophet III Ti 200 after reading the SharkyExtreme review. It seems to overclock very well.
I'm currently using a Radeon 64DDR and 2D image quality is very important to me (I run my desktop at 1600x1200, 32bits) and I would really appreciate it if you could give your opinions about your Ti200 2D IQ.
I'm particularly interested to hear from previous Radeon owners if possible.

Thanks!

If your looking for excellent 2D I'd pass on Hercules, their not as bad as some but their still not that great either. Their generally decent enough as long as you stick to 1024x768, and 1280x1024 is semi-reasonable with some tweaking of the gamma settings. Definitely wouldnt recommend it for 1600x1200 unless your standards arent very high.
Elsa, and Gainward are probably the best choices for 2D in a GF3.
LeadTek and VisionTek are also quite good, but not quite comparable to Elsa/Gainward IMHO.

The Gainward/Cardexpet GeForce3 Ti200 Golden Sample was my second choice.
I think I'll change my mind now tho :)
Now I'm going to try to find out what Gainward think of their card's 2D quality.

Thanks.

My Visiontek GeForce3 Ti200 has excellent 2D at 1152x864, which I use, but I also tried 1600x1200 and it was still excellent. I saw no difference in 2D quality between the two resolutions. I had a Voodoo4 and Radeon LE, both being very good in 2D, but I think my GF3 Ti200 is better than either of those in 2D. I would rate the 2D on my 3 cards: 1-VT GF3 Ti200, 2-Voodoo4, 3-Radeon LE. I think that your specific monitor and how it reacts to a specific videocard, has a lot to do with the quality of the picture.
