This is just perfect, I finally after weeks of investigation decided what I want in my new machine, and then I find out that these two may not/wont work together. But is the problem really in the motherboard, or is it in the powersupply? because it seems that it doesnt matter what GeForce2 card you put on the MB.

I just have to know, if I buy 300+ W powersupply, does GeForce2 + Abit KT7 combination work. These two seems to be the best one's in their categories and I dont want to start my investigations again to find another ones... and when Abit KT7-RAID received AnandTech's award, this must be my motherboard.

Please help!

I have a Hercules GeForce 2 GTS / 64MB on a KT7-RAID with only a 235W PS. I also have 3 HDDs, a Creative DVD, a Kenwood TrueX 72, a Live! card, and a modem and on occasion also a CD-RW drive when my burning station is acting up. If I can have all of that and overclock my TBird from 700 to 850 without stability issues on just 235W then you should be fine with 300W or more. I'm thinking of getting a larger PS myself. At 900MHZ it gets a little unstable. At 950 it will boot most of the time, but crashes at random intervals though it is not completely unusable.

I say go for it. It's a great combo.

Do any of you think a 300W ps would help me overclock more?

This really is one hell of a situation. One says "I never had ANY problems" and another says "wont work together AT ALL". How can this happen? I dont know what the h*ll I'm going to do here ;)

I actually now changed my mind and thought to go with ATI Radeon, but it too seems to have lots of probs with the goddamned VIA Apollo KT133 chipset. Is that really just a piece of s*it? Is there ANY graphics card that hasn't had problems with VIA chipset?

I had a KT7 and a Herc geforce 2 32mb card and had no problems. There is a know problem that when you first start up you computer you will get a long beep and no video-all you do is hold down the reset button for a few seconds and then release-has to do with the agp voltages not in synch or something like that.

Here is a link to all you need to know about the KT7 series:

Tons of info there

My friend's GeForce 2 woulnd't work with his KT7 until he flashed the BIOS. Flashing the BIOS fixes most problems usually. I has for me anyway.
