Hey i'm a newbie here. I was wondering if any of you guys out there have this graphic card can tell me if what you think of it. Right now, i'm trying to build myself a new computer and i am kind of low on budget. So I just want to get a good graphic card under $100 dollar. I wanted your opinions on this Kyro. Another thing, can you guys tell me if ECS K7VZA motherboard is good or not?

P.S. Should I spend a little more money to get the Hercules 4500 KyroII instead?
Thank you in advance.

I wouldn't buy a Kyro I. If you're looking for inexpensive, go with a GForce2 MX, or spend a bit more and go with a Kyro II based card.

The 64mb INNOD3D Kyro II is available on pricewatch for only $105 and the Hercules 4500 Kyro II is $109 on pricewatch so I'd go for one of the Kyro II's over the Kyro 1. Although if your looking for a very cheap card the Kyro 1 is very good, with a decent CPU its faster then the Geforce MX especially at high res or using FSAA and 32bit colour. The Prophet 4000XT Kyro 1 can be found at newegg for $55. The Kyro II is approximately 52% faster then the Kyro 1 but has exactly the same feature set.

I bought a cardexpert geforceMX, but it doesn't work on amd systems, only intel:confused:. So I had to swap it with my cousins inno3d tnt2. When reading further into the manual I found out in small print that this card was made to be used with an Intel based system. Still haven't tried to fix the problem, but heard it can be made to work on AMD systems.

Anyone here using a CardExpert Geforce2 MX card on their AMD system??? !!!

Yes, I am. Over the past week, I've had two nVidia MX cards in my system: MSI motherboard w/VIA chipset & 900 MHz Athlon processor. The cards that I utilized are as follows:

1) Palit Daytona AGP MX400 w/64 MB of memory.

and

2) Cardex "Golden Sample" AGP MX w/32 MB of memory.

Both cards were just dropped in and then I applied that latest nVidia drivers. Addtionally, both cards were "TwinView" cards and I was driving two 15" TFT monitors with them.

I don't know where you heard that nVidia MX cards don't work with AMD processors, but I'd check your sources before believing them on any other things that they state.

You might want to take a look at this Budget card roundup which inludes both the Phrophet 4000 and a MX400. Heres a snip from the conlusion:

"The Radeon VE has by far the best features/price ratio. Dualhead, DVI and TV out, all the cables and convertors you need, decent 2D and 3D performance; it's all there. However, if you use your machine primarily for gaming, and you are short on cash, it's hard to beat the Guillemot 4000XT, which is an incredible deal for the money and offers excellent 3D gaming performance."

And not to mention that this beast is only $69 (after a $30 rebate) at Circuit City.
