Have put this on other forums here but usually get poor responses so thought I would put it where I am recognised. Any ideas appreciated.
Thanks.

Cannot get my zip100 drive to work.
Works fine in old computer, pII 400 (comes up as drive B: not zip though)
Will read OK
Will not format (hangs at 85% if it gets that far.)
Cant write to consistantly if at all and takes a long time.

Have:
changed cable.
Made master
made slave
made only drive
downloaded newest drivers from Iomega.
Disks themselves work great in any other drives and will format.

Using on secondary IDE
Running win 98 with all available updates.

Any ideas appreciated.

Bios update???

Are you doing quick formats or full formats? And, are you doing the formats by right clicking on the drive under "My Computer" and then choosing format?

Vi-

Yep and have tried both methods.

Have even tried formating from DOS window. Get format complete and then system hangs.

Ok, to sum things up:

a) it used (and still does) work on the old machine
b) the disks have been proven to work on another drive
c) you've tried it in just about any imaginable configuration

Can you right click on "my computer", select "properties", click the "device manager" tab, expand the "drives" list, and then do a properties on the zip drive. What is checked under the "settings" tab of the Zip drive?

Sorry Vi,

I have removed the drive and the software yet again so cant do your request. Did it before though and all seemed normal with zip100 atapi/ide shown.

Suspect strongly it is a BIOS problem with pro 2a or even a bios setting I have wrong.

Did get a strange occurrence. Trying to format, it held at 85% for a long time and then one of my fans speeded up and made a lot of noise. Antec PS. Rebooted and all fine. Related? Who knows but system had been rock solid for weeks until this. Think Zip did work for a while on this system but not sure. You know ho that goes.

Guess the next thing is to call both Iomega and then MSI and see if any known problem exists.

Can you spell sore ear from being on hold? :D

Glad I have a speakerphone.

Bump

Anybody else?

Anybody using an internal zip 100 with the pro 2a and not having problems?
