hemorrhoids question update: took another crap

At first I thought this would be the most embarrassing question in ATOT history, then I realized it probably wouldn't even make the top 100 in the few months that I've been here.

So anyway the last couple times I've dropped the kids off at the pool, it felt a little odd at first, like there was something in the way if that makes any sense. Same thing this morning, except there was bright red blood on the TP and in the bowl on the product; specifically the first part that came out. I'd say about a teaspoon's worth. D:

Obviously I'm not happy with this, so I set up an elaborate system of mirrors to inspect things back there, and externally everything looks ok. Sitting here now, when I 'clench' things feel a little uncomfortable, but nothing painful. My diet is fine, I get plenty of fiber, don't eat processed / refined foods, and don't eat takeout. I'm not scared yet, I want to see what happens over the next day or so, but for those of you that have had hemorrhoids, does this sound typical? Also, I just took a couple weeks of from lifting heavy at the gym, so I'm wondering if I strained something deadlifting on Monday.

-------------------------------
UPDATE 11/09/11: took a crap this evening, not a spot of blood. I relaxed and just let it come naturally.

------------------------------

Update 2 11/11/11: Went again today for a particularly large package drop off, and tried pushing a little too hard...blood this time. I wish there was a way to take smaller shits until this thing heals over. May just go see my doctor if it's still bothering me early this coming week.

If this is real, do you really want to take the advice of ATOTers for a medical condition?

Go see you doctor

If the blood is surface and red, you are likely OK. If, however, it is dark and (as the poster above noted) mixed in, see a doc soon. Rectal bleeding of bright, red blood is not life threatening (if not profuse), but the other can be an indicator of a more serious condition. Good luck.

This. You might have ripped the lining or something, typically the hemorrhoid would show on the outside.

there are internal hemorrhoids, i have one, it sucks. careful with what you eat and it won't get to bad. i can't tell you what to be careful of because it varies from person to person.

You got a roid bud. Nothing to do about it. If she gets horrifyingly painful (as in you can't get up or use your legs or strain at all) go see a doctor who will immediately send you to a procto. Don't force out poop, rock and let it come by itself. Pat, don't wipe. Don't pick anything heavy up for the next couple days, don't sit on your ass, lie on your stomach or back or side. Donuts can help but are just as painful for me.

when I 'clench' things feel a little uncomfortable, but nothing painful.

Deep red blood with clots (like fucking period blood) is dangerous and indicates internal bleeding. If its just like regular blood than maybe the roid got a little paper cut from the cosby kids.

Hemorrhoids can be very serious, I know someone who needed 3 units blood transfusion due to blood loss from a hemorrhoids. I think you can actually die from an untreated hemorrhoid.

It's more blood ON it, as opposed to being in it or mixed with it.

i had that when i was like 17 and it was the most embarrassing thing to tell my parents. went to the doc he made an appt at the hospital for a lower GI and ill tell you what it was even more embarrassing when the hot nurse walks out of the xray room and in comes a hairy fat orderly named Guido and he sticks a rubber tube up your ass that has a rubber balloon on it that felt like a fucking softball.

turns out it was internal hemorrhoids. that went away on their own.

Hemorrhoids are a real pain in the ass...

Blood ON the stool may just be from a leaking blood vessel...or it COULD be something more serious. IMO, worth seeing your doctor.

I had that problem but I never went to a doctor about it. Eating more fiber everyday is what fixed it for me (a bowl of shredded wheat or a fiber bar does the trick).
The only time I have issues now is if I'm on vacation or something and I'm not getting enough fiber.

I feel your pain. Really, I have hemmoroids all the time. I am 45 and I usually go at least 4-5 times in the morning. This has been going on for 30 years or so. I have irritated roids because of it. But, Id rather purge a few times in the morning than once a day or several days. i also eats TONS of hot spicy food which I know attributes to this. Drink loads of water, it helps a lot.

OP, when was the last time you received anal sex?

How about not being crude? it's just immature. And it's no wonder ATOT has the image that it does.

OP, as others have suggested, try more fiber in your diet. I'd also add in more water. A doctor visit isn't a bad idea either.

My experience fits your description perfectly. For me, I developed hemorrhoids when a teenager. I was not drinking enough water, eating enough fiber, and changed wiping from front to back like women do to prevent infection to wiping back to front. Wiping back to front gets things cleaner down there but I soon found myself digging deeper in my obsessive effort to clean up. That is a habit I still have now 25 years later.

Sometimes it itches and sometimes it bleeds externally (once every 5-6 months or so). This may be dangerous since bacteria in the blood stream tend to settle on the heart valves and calcify. This can create heart valve failure after about 40 years of hardening of the valves.

Do you wipe back to front? If so, change that habit now before it becomes too habitual to change.

Somebody above mentioned patting, not wiping. I do not like feeling dirty down there and wipe too strongly.

Some people believe that sitting on cold surfaces can cause hemorrhoids; such as concrete benches in the park on a cold day. I am not sure if this is true or not but it is something to consider.

Also start using those baby wipes to clean up.

This helps immensely. If you dont have/cant use them - bring along prep h and lube up the TP first with that. The pain releiving kind with lidocaine is a godsend some days where I gotta sit for 8 hours and have a flareup brewing.
