Hemorrhoid relief???

So, I haven't had a flare up in a couple years, but this last week, got me good!

(I'll forego the whole "my friend" stuff & just admit.....yup.....I got 'roids!)

I basically have a sit-down job, but I can certainly get up every so often and walk around. (Walking is like the only time I feel 100% well so I try & walk as much as I can).

Right now I'm doing........

half-bath daily w/ epsom salts & witch hazel
Prep H (generic)
wet wipes daily (wetted also w/ witch hazel)

Getting plenty of sleep, etc.

Any other suggestions?? Tricks??

heh, that reminds me of the South Park episode where Cartman gets his own amusement park and Kyle gets a hemorrhoid

Add a pain reliever/ asprin?

Actually, not a bad idea. My wife suggested the same thing.

I should say, too, I've been eating VERY healthy lately. Water only...(maybe a cup of decaff in the morning), fruits, veggies, subway for lunch, chicken & vegetables for dinner. I can't eat any healthier, unless I go to straight Tofu!! LOL!!

P.S. No.......not Chuck Norris.........pleeeeeze.............not Chuck!! 😀

um, dramatic increase in fiber in your diet is the only way to "cure" the problem. maybe you are addicted to a low-fiber hi-fat hi-sugar diet, plus no exercise?

Exactly what I've implemented.

Though even thru most of the holidays, I still typically include good eating as well as bad eating.

As per my diet for the last month or so, there's no doubt I'm getting plenty of fiber!

Reeding iz phundimentul

Asprin will thin the blood w/long term use.
More fiber and daily brisk walks.

TIP: The gel pads wheelchair bound ppl have to sit on all day.

Fing a new one and buy it. Mine is a Vicair Academy made by Hill-Rom in Charleston, SC.
I found mine new at a garage sale. VG support w/no pressure points and excellent ventilation.
No back pressure during periods of flatulance is another plus.

Also......I should say, it's definitely not chronic, but just for safety's sake.........when it happened a couple years ago, I had what's called.......(ahem)......a barium enema.

Not a fun experience, but I wanted to rule out colon cancer as I was paranoid.

All's well, just hemorrhoids!

Thanks very much for the advice!

For those who've never had them........just wait......you will!!! :evil::clock:

And, actually I really can't recall having strained when I get them. (or *IT*, 'cuz I can really only feel one problem spot).

I think (for me) it's simply hereditary combined with a particular reaction to something I eat that starts the process, then I'm already "in the throws" and can't do much except for wait.

I'm going to be keeping myself as regular as a senior friggin' citizen for 2006!!! 😎

Are you suffering, too??

I'll tell ya' a couple other things, one that *I* tried and somebody else tried.........

#1.) I tried a presciption from my doctor called "Proctofoam". Basically, yes, you prep a device and you get a pre-measured dose of foam up there & it works to shrink the hemorrhoid(s).

RESULT: I can't say that I *felt* it do much, but I'm sure it didn't hurt.

#2.) A buddy swears by 25% (I think he said) hydrocortisone. I think you normally find 1% or 2% in stores available to the public and you're only supposed to use them for 1 week max, but he's older than I am and swears that if he uses one at night, he's good by morning.

RESULT: He says *great*, I say *I don't know 'cuz I haven't used 'em before*
