Helping w/ my LCD Decision. Update 5/10!

I'm sorry for posting a subject thats been covered many times but the amount of research and searches that have been done is making my head want to explode.

Here is my current situation, I have a 19" NEC Multisync FE950+ and want to replace with either 17, 18, or 19" goodness and here is my final monitor roundup in my budget.

17" NEC LCD1760NX-BK (same as hitachi and planar 17" models w/ 16ms)
18" NEC LCD1860NX-BK
18" Dell Rebadged LG aka 1800FP
19" Dell Rebadged Samsung 191t aka 1900FP

Features in order of importance to me:
1. Ghosting (Gaming and web page scrolling)
2. Screen Size
3. Physical look

I use 1280x1024 on my desktop and gaming so resolution doesn't matter on these monitors, at least that one less thing I need to worry about. Thanks for all your help fellow ATers.

not too sure about the necs, but 2 of my room mates have the 1800fp and 1900fp. both are really nice, but the 1900fp looks alot sharper imo. very close though, so if money was a consideration, i don't think the 1900fp is worth the extra ~$200 over the 1800fp. both have minimal ghosting... screen size and physical look definitely goes to the 1900fp.

dunno if that helps.

I've used the older NEC 1700V and the Dell 1800FP.

The NEC has a better contrast ratio over the Dell(400/450:1 as opposed to 350:1), and because of that I prefer the NEC to the Dell despite the 1800FP's DVI feature. The difference in the contrast ratio should be one of your concerns. Take a look at a LCD monitor with a higher contrast ratio like the Samsung 172T or Viewsonic VX900 and you'll see what I mean.

If you have extra money get the Samsung 172T. It's an amazing monitor.

Well I just got the hitachi version of the NEC's with 16ms response about a month ago and must say its damn fantastic. If ghosting is your number 1 concern then forget the 18" and 19" as the ghosting will be noticible on those, where as on my hiatchi, its non existant. Go the 17" NEC, you will not regret it.

Check the accessories on the NEC1760NX, I do not believe it comes with the digital DVI video cable. Anyone confirm?
