So top loaders don't have this?
The user manual for my top-loader doesn't mention any maintenance for a filter. Could be an oversight but I've never seen one on a top-loader.So top loaders don't have this?
New GE 4.2cu ft top loader bitches, so no idea what you are talking about. And yes with a real agitator and yes NOT high efficiency (although it can use h.e. detergent too). Agitator > * for cleaning clothes. Front loaders are trash compared to top loading agitation.

I've had both, and the only things the top-loader was better at was emptying my water heater and wearing my clothes out much faster. You'd have to pry my Bosch front-loader out of my cold, dead hands. It rocks!
Hmm I have a top loader, so probably why I don't have one.
Eventually I might upgrade to a front loader, they do have more capacity and would be able to do the bed comforters which would be nice. I know the earlier models had issues with mold and stuff but I imagine those have been sorted by now, they've been around for at least a decade or two now.
Yeah, it's called you leave the door open after you use it.![]()
Yeah, even if you leave it open the seal will eventually get moldy and need replacing. Luckily it is about a $80 part and can fairly easily be done by the owner. (Just did mine). For me the worst part is cleaning the detergent dispenser. That thing gets all gunky and moldy.
Owners, run that bleach cleaning cycle every week or two...
My front loader washes better than my previous top loaders. But the top loader didn't keep residual water and mold smell was never an issue.New GE 4.2cu ft top loader bitches, so no idea what you are talking about. We use powder soap and have never had a problem with the detergent dispenser in our LG. Door seal is still in great shape after a couple of years. This front loader has been amazing in comparison to the top loaders we've had in the past.
Our washer has a magnet that allows you to leave the washer door slightly open when not in use to air it out. No issues with mold (we live in a very dry climate...so that probably helps).
Just for perspective, it took 8 years before I replaced that seal. So, it did take a while. We always leave the door open after use, but it's just the consequence of hard water and 8 years of time.
im pretty sure that front loaders always have a small amount of water left in them.
top loaders i think pump all the water out.
