ok heres the deal. im trying to format my harddrive,
right now i have win98 and win 2000 running in one harddrive,
theres 2 partition c: (2gigs) and d: (58gigs) , c: is primary partition and im running win 98 and d: is extended partition and running with 2000 pro, i tried fdsik and everything to format hardrive and i just cant format extended partition, all i can do is format primary drive which is c: anyone have any idea how to get rid of partion and format d: i cant figure this out, =/ 🙁
edit- by the way im trying to go back my os to win 98 se
and when i put win 98se cd , it automatically format c: only , not d:

[*]I have seen instances where you need to copy format.com over to the floppy manually, so check to make sure it's there once you create a bootdisk thru the control panel add/remove programs.

You should be able to boot your PC to a Win98 boot floppy, run fdisk, delete the non-dos partition, repartition the extra space to fat32. Finally you can restart the pc to the bootdisk again and at the a: prompt type format d: /q /u (and any other partition that you might have created).

I've seen this before, where the Win2K (or WinNT) install partitions the hard drive in such a way that DOS-based 'fdisk' can't delete the drive(s) in the extended partition. You might try booting on the Win2K CD as if you were going to do an install, then telling it to delete that D: drive that you don't want. After D: has been deleted, interrupt the system and boot to DOS. Then try running 'fdisk' and see if you can create a new D: and subsequently format it.

i do not have bootable 2000 cd . and when im on 98 se., i can not access to d: partition. d: drive shows as my cd drive,
is there anyway i can format d: through win 2000?

edit= i think i got this . give me couple mins to figure this out ^^

ran into another problem.

but when i try to create primary partioin. it wont let me go over 2gigs.
