I installed a ZIP drive on this system and it fails to boot into windows 98.

Abit BE6
Drives connected using HP366 controller

Once the ZIP drive is removed, I can boot. ONce it is in, it wont boot.

No error msg
No nth. Just hangs after the Win splash screen.

I've heard of a number of issues with having ATAPI (non HDD) devices on HighPoint controllers. Put something else on the HPT and put the ZIP on one of your mobo IDE channels.

Absolutely correct! The HPT will only take HDD and will not take CD-Rom, DVD or Zips. ATAPI interface device should be connected to the regular IDE connectos.

The weird thing is that the ZIP250 is detected correctly in the BIOS and my ATA66 cable will not let me plug into the on board BX controller.

I need to get another cable tomorrow.

Weird enough, my CDROM works perfectly with the HP366.
