I just got this system going and I'm having problems with installing any kind of joysticks.. When I go to game controllers and try to add my joystick or any joystick my system locks up the second I press any of game controllers.. It does the same thing when I put the disk in and install it .. Once it reboots it locks up..

I'm runnig in windows 98 SE .. This is what I have in my system.

Since the joystick plugs into the soundcard, try uninstalling the sound card, reboot and reinstall it. See what happens.

try installing the software for your joystick first then attach the usb joystick to your computer. it should be detected & windows will ask for drivers from logitec cd or files from windows cd. it should then appear in device manager under game controllers.

Try getting a non-SoundBlaster card and use that. SB Live! has a lot of resource sharing problems..

if you do intend to reformat, then I suggest you use dx7a vs dx8!
install in this order:
Install Windows
Install latest VIA 4in1 service pack
Install latest VIA USB filter driver
Install Microsoft VIA USB patch (on Windows 98 or 98SE)
Install latest DirectX and latest patches
Install latest video drivers
Install latest sound card drivers
Install latest HPT370 software (on the KT7-RAID)
Install other latest drivers, e.g. joystick, graphics tablet, etc
Install applications
The basic principal is to work up from the most basic software towards the higher level applications. Some people have reported that it is necessary to defrag before and after installing DirectX, but this should be unnecessary if the disk was formatted before installation. Note that on the KT7-RAID it is advisable to install the HPT370 software after the sound card software, to avoid conflicts.
